KELO-TV is reporting about a clean-up underway in Sioux Falls. An abandoned railroad close to Falls Park was turned into a dumping area for just about anything and everything, vehicles, a snowmobile, appliances, you name it.
SIOUX FALLS, SD – The City of Sioux Falls is continuing cleanup efforts along an abandoned railroad. It is a big job wouldn’t be easy if it wasn’t for the cooperation of several departments working to clean up one neighborhood at a time.
It is a big job, so several departments are chipping in, including Fire Rescue, Public Works, police and the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
“Anyone of those departments could have said that’s not my problem, that’s not our mission. Rather, everyone took the opposite direction and said now can we help? And you are seeing the results of it behind me,”(Kevin) Smith said.
This is what South Dakota is all about. When there is a time of real need we are more than willing to help. I imagine that if asked, many from the general public would step up to help.
