Cap Journal: “no clear indication of Bosworth supporters reserving rooms.”

From the Capital Journal, it sounds like there’s still plenty of room available at the Inn. And that Boz is refusing any deal that doesn’t involve things being pled down to a misdemeanor:

But last week, a county employee said there had not been serious discussion or expectations of a large crowd in town for the trial, expected to begin Wednesday after a jury is seated.

A cursory survey of motels in Pierre and Fort Pierre found no clear indication of Bosworth supporters reserving rooms.

and..

Evangelical groups across the nation have rallied to Bosworth’s cause, saying she’s being singled out for uber-prosecution because of her openness about her faith. Other evangelicals have countered with criticism of Bosworth for not being honest.

and..

Annette BosworthMany have questioned why a deal hasn’t been struck.

“There’s no deal that will take away any of the felonies, so of course it’s going to trial,” Bosworth said.

She has posted regular appeals for donations and prayers on her Facebook page.

and..

Hickey posted recently on a blog thread about Bosworth, in a reply to Howie’s attacks, on why he is adamant that she should be prosecuted: “As a Christian in the public sphere it is maddening to me that you and Boz – the most overt in displaying your Christianity – morning devotions put on Youtube – are known as the most unscrupulous. It’s a horrible witness. Boz in particular. She isn’t being persecuted for righteousness’ sake, as your recent post said. That’s ridiculous. She’s getting off easy.”

  1. A no contest plea to a single misdemeanor would be more than appropriate for disposition of this case. I cannot believe this is going to trial. This case is going to have a chilling affect on political participation.

  2. How long will jury selection last for the Crucifixion err persecution err prosecution of Annette Bosworth?

  3. No chilling effect on political participation. The politicos and senate campaign insiders were telling me to leave her alone and let her self destruct. Jackley and the SOS had to be pulled into this by my lawsuit. They apparently just wanted it to end with her primary defeat. It was people she hurt and scammed who contacted myself and more Cory Heidelberger motivating us to push things legally. Boz has no one to blame but herself and she should be grateful her money troubles and scams weren’t prosecutable.

  4. Steve: It is truly disturbing how much zeal you have for this prosecution and your self-absorbed feeling as the father of this railroad derailment. Theft by deception and plain old theft are both prosecuted all the time. This is nothing more than a glorified misdemeanor case, but for the fact that she challenged Rounds. I have the utmost respect for Marty. This goint to trial, however, without allowance of a misdemeanor plea is not good for South Dakota.

    1. My zeal is for other things. Can we not freely comment here? My view is that others were doing everything within their means to expose her scams and only when it was well along did I get involved. And then only briefly. It is entirely appropriate for me as a pastor and legislator to call BS on this talk of Boz being persecuted for her faith.

  5. At the end of this, the unfortunate thing is that we will not know how much money team Chad has raised under his Christian persecution claim. This is a money grab, pure and simple. I always thought they would try to plead it out today but a conviction might increase revenues so what the hell.

  6. I’m sure the tourism-related businesses were planning on the Bosworthites’ swarming to Pierre and making their summer season. I suppose Rounds and Jackley are to blame for this as well if no one shows up to attend the Circus, er, Trial of Decade in our fair Capitol City.

    1. I heard that Marty has the Highway Patrol blocking all entrances to Pierre to keep Pornahan and the Boz horde out. Not sure if it’s true – but it’s something I heard. Just like Gordie hears stuff all the time.

        1. I’m no fan of Bosworth, but the idea of widespread bugging isn’t exactly wild paranoia in a world where federal agents can open the audio on our cell phones at the push of a button.

          1. That’s why I always put tape over the nail holes in the room in case someone is looking in and search for any of those new government controlled surveillance robot bugs including flies, mosquitos and bed bugs.

Then there are those supposedly contractor vans parked in the lot or across the street which are just a disguise with their hi tech surveillance equipment. Covering the wall facing those walls facing those fake contractor vans with tin foil will block their signal. 🙂

            1. Pinhole cameras are a legitimate concern, but fake contractor vans have become mostly unnecessary, and it would be crazy to risk sending an insect drone into a motel room.
