  1. Those of us who have actually witnessed what goes on in behavioral health facilities are aware of the total rip-off these institutions are. The patients wander around in various states of undress and disarray, annoy and harass each other, and the staff sit behind the desk typing on keyboards and paying no attention at all. All that for $10-15,000/ week.

      1. PP the other truly inspiring part of the Autism bill is having the ability to teach and help these young people here in SD instead of the parents leaving SD for another State which does cover professional care. The reason the young mother from Eureka left SD was to get care for Cooper.

  2. 8 bills left after this one was signed–will any of them get a veto? Bob mercer has a nice column explaining what the ELITE EIGHT are to use a basketball term.

  3. The proper professional teaching at a young age makes all the difference. A mother of an autistic child from Eureka now living in another state got the great news her son is ready for regular classes and it all happened because of some great teachers and Moms persistence.

    Go Cooper!!!
