Rounds Applauds Administration for Backing Off Ammunition Ban Proposal

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) today applauded the Administration’s decision to withdraw a proposal to severely limit to rifle ammunition primarily used for sporting purposes. Rounds is a member of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus.

“I was appalled to hear the Administration would even consider restricting access to bullets,” said Rounds. “In our letter, we made clear that the right to bear arms includes ammunition as well. I’m pleased commonsense and the 2nd amendment prevailed. Those of us who are supporters of the 2nd amendment must remain vigilant in monitoring this executive branch’s attempts to limit our right to bear arms.”

Yesterday, Rounds joined 52 colleagues in signing a letter to Director Todd Jones of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) expressing concern for the proposal. Today, the ATF announced it will not seek to issue a final framework for the proposed rule after receiving more than 80,000 public comments on the proposal.

    1. You laugh, but Rounds is probably the smartest person serving in the whole Senate right now.

      1. I laughed? Are you sure? You stated ‘is probably’ but you don’t know for sure, right? Right.

        1. Who could know? I just say probably because he hasn’t been there long, and comes off a big successful state and national career of his own. If he sits around there a couple of years and does nothing, it’ll dumb him down too. I’d love to see him outdo Barack Obama and run for President during his 2nd year in Congress, and do to the whole field what he did to Kirby, Barnett and Abbott.

              1. I’m just extrapolating from history. Anyone can do it. Rounds has had no demonstrable problem at moving to where he has opportunities, and I don’t expect that to change.

                1. Extrapolating or being delusional. And I tens to agree that Rounds is an opportunist.

                    1. Yes, I was ‘wasting’ time by cooling down after a 4.25 mile run. Meanwhile, you wasted your day by commenting on a blog.

                    2. Look who’s wasting time talking to an insulting fitness egomaniac. Me. I wasted no time, sir or madam. I was doing many other things while you were belittling my assertions.

  1. I wouldn’t applaud them-I’d say, “You got caught and the people realized you were again trying to subvert the Constitution; don’t try it again, because we’ll be watching you and the citizens of the country will be watching you.”

    1. I would refer to the ATF memo that was sent out long before these phonies starting chirping about it that said this type of armor piercing ammunition was not intended to be on that list.

Of course, that would not make Round or Thune or Noem a hero to anyone in here, would it? Oh well, another problem that was solved before Thune jumped in to save our freedom.

  2. I am furious with our Government right now. What jackass thinks they have a right to bastardize the Constitution?

    Liberals are complete morons.

    1. Yes, it’s outrageous. Complete madness! You should organize a demonstration where we can vent our frustrations by hurling rocks and turning over a few news vehicles. And shake our fists in the air for emphasis!

      1. In other words, we should be French disaffected youth? We should be 98-percenters? We should be Occupy / Greenpeace / etc ?

          1. Well shake that fist but leave the news vehicles alone. In this state newspeople are probably driving their own cars.

            1. Well, I have seen Don Jorgenson driving his own fancy vehicle but I don’t know if he was on his way to work or to cover a breaking story concerning the Robins returning from their winter hiatus.
