Kevin Jensen’s lapse of memory. Claims he wasn’t seeking DOC Secretary resignation. Except for when he was.

From Facebook, State Senator Kevin Jensen – as he wants to keep kicking the prison can down the road – claims he wasn’t seeking the Secretary of Corrections resignation…

I was not asking for the Secretary’s resignation, I was pushing for a rational discussion on the actual needs of DOC.

Well, except for when he was seeking Wasko’s resignation..

“I just sent the following to a group of legislators I trust. Collective letter from prison staff calling for resignation of sec Wasko. Policy changes undermined security and safety. Please vote no on all prison expansion until there is resolution.

Yeah…

  1. They said they’d never vote for the prison if it was in Lincoln County. Now it’s now in Lincoln County. They said they’d never vote for the person if Wasko was in charge. Now Wasko has resigned. Yet they say they still won’t vote for the prison.

  2. Ah yes, one of the keepers of the ever-changing goalposts… these people are not serious about governing, only about keeping their name in the headlines.

  3. Every day we don’t get serious and get this prison done, SD looks like a bunch of idiots. Get it DONE.

  4. Good stuff calling him out. He can stay a “nay” forever, that’s fine, but 2/3 need to not let perfect be the enemy of good and get this damn thing passed.

  5. Kevin’s an embarrassment to Beresford, and it’s high time someone put his useless ego to pasture.

  6. Remember Lincoln county republican party is the county that just endorsed someone that is running in 2026…

  7. If the Lincoln County legislators vote “no” on this new plan and keep moving the goal posts, the entire state should turn on them and put the prison back in its original location in the middle of Lincoln County. They need to either grow up or face consequences for their juvenile governing style.

  8. All you residents of D16 who reside on the south side of Sioux Falls, remember this is the guy who put up a post saying “I don’t care what the city of Sioux Falls thinks.” Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I believe your legislators should care what you think.

  9. This Mr. Jensen fellow, from a District numbered in the teens, while not quite as bad as the other Mr. Jensen fellow from a District numbered in the thirties, is a major joke to all outside his district. In the legislatures, most lobbists guffaw behind his back at his bold faced lying.

  10. This guy has single handedly disseminated the most dis/misinformation regarding the prison. He thought he would be the hero but he’s far from it. He’s a distractor and pat-on-the-bat seeker. This is not the first time he has contradicted himself while pointing fingers elsewhere. Zero accountability from him when he’s wrong. I have to believe he has good intentions but when his ego is the intention above all other good intentions it’s just not a good look nor effective. He is not an effective legislator. Unless roadblocks is your goal. He’s effective at that.

  11. If Hansen had any leadership skills at all he would get these clowns on the same page and get to the task at hand instead of watching each one chase their own squirrels. Funny how these holier than thou fiscal conservatives don’t seem to mind how much taxpayer money is being blown on this task force and special session, padding their own pockets along the way, and the way they are going, they will have accomplished nothing.

    1. Does anyone actually know what a Legislator makes per day while serving on these committees/summer studies? I’m guessing it’s pay, travel, lodging and meal allowance?

      1. The Legislatures make a lot of bank, like the kids say, on these meetings outside of the sessions. And most of them phone it in on the Zooms while sitting at home listening with one ear. It is a perk.

        1. I fully agree with everything in these comments except this. It’s $123 a day for meetings plus .65 a mile. No one’s “making bank” on that.

          1. For an old fellow like grudznick who is on a fixed income, and prolly some of those old fellows in the legislatures, that kind of bank goes a long way at Ms. May’s grocery stand.
