Flags at Half-Staff Statewide in Honor of Charlie Kirk

PIERRE, S.D. – Today, Governor Larry Rhoden ordered that flags be flown at half-staff statewide effective immediately until sunset on Sunday, September 14, 2025, as a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk.

“Charlie Kirk was a good man, a great American, and a true voice for Freedom,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “Please join Sandy and me in praying for his family.”

This announcement is consistent with President Trump’s order, which can be found here.

    President Trump has removed Secret Service protection for the following officials who have received serious threats: Kamala Harris, John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, Anthony Fauci, and Mark Milley.

      But Brandei S. has threatened Anthony Fauci so maybe we should lock her up. I would be okay with that

    2. How about explaining where your “outrage” was when Stumbles denied Sec Serv protection for RFK Jr. during the campaign process after RFK Jr. had received credible/serious threats? How about explaining where your “outrage” was over a 4-year period when thousands of illegal alien criminals were allowed to come into the USA without challenge and how many Americans have died at their hands? Come on elk, tell us all where that self-righteous indignation was concerning your fellow American who can’t afford security details for protection. Oh, that’s right, you didn’t give a damn.

      1. You declare that I “didn’t give a damn” about Kennedy being denied protection. I was never even aware of it till now. But, from what I read, he was belatedly provided the security by Biden. So how does that even compare to this?

        Trump, on the other hand, is deliberately risking the lives of all of these people and forcing them to pay a fortune trying to protect themselves and their families. Why? Because they worked in government and stood up to him in one way or another. That was their crime. And all of our foreign adversaries now know that these people are vulnerable. They could be harmed, perhaps followed by societal unrest.

        Has there ever been a president who openly incites violence to the extent that this one does? And, on top of that, has to raise his fist like some third-world dictator.

What group of Representatives had a gunman open fire on them during a softball practice almost killing one? What Senator was attacked at his home? Which VP candidate stated that the riots and destruction will and should continue? Which political pundit was just assassinated because someone didnt like what he said? So please, spare us your self righteous sanctimony about how you and your party are above it all.

He flies the flag at half mast for 12ish hours for Melissa Hortman, a government employee and for 4 days for this person who didn’t deserve to die, but who spewed hate and also said people have to die every year to protect the 2nd amendment. He died by what he loved. Won’t miss him.
