Attorney General Jackley Part of Coalition to Submit Final Proposal to End Google’s Search Monopoly
PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley joins 37 other State Attorneys General and the U.S. Department of Justice in submitting a final package of remedies to end Google’s illegal monopoly over internet search engines and to restore competition to benefit consumers.
“The Federal Court has ruled that Google has a monopoly in online searches,” said Attorney General Jackley. “We are proposing remedies that ensure consumers will be fairly treated.”
The package of remedies, which was initially submitted last November, proposes a ban on all search-related payments to distribution partners, including Apple and Android partners. Google would also be required to divest Chrome, with the possible divestiture of Android if the initial set of remedies prove less effective than anticipated or if Google fails to comply with the decree.
Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser and Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, who are leading the states on the litigation, have been in contact with the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division on the key issues related to the remedies package.
A hearing on the proposed remedies is currently scheduled to begin on April 21 and conclude by May 9, 2025.

I mean wow, this is so important for South Dakotans, especially now. Every time I turn around, it’s not a lost job, or lost healthcare that’s concerning, or VA issues, nope, all my friends and neighbors keep talking about the Google monopoly. Ha!
How do you say you’re arbitrary and ineffective without saying it?
Since when is jobs, healthcare, or VA policy the responsibility of the AG’s office?
He’s running for governor and putting out press releases constantly. He has the ability to set better priorities and could take positions on the unconstitutional actions of the executive branch but that’d be inconvenient even though it’s much more important. Not mission a civics class, but able to see the bigger picture. So since you can’t connect the dots, let’s break it down. When the president issues unconstitutional orders, the AGs could raise their voices. When they do it only when it’s convenient to their political position or they don’t want to rock the boat, that’s not having standards or leadership. He’s doing these small, ultimately meaningless tactics in the context of what’s happening. When your principles change because you’re calculating your political future, you’re a pretty good politician but not a principled leader.
All this and yet you are still confused about the job description of the AG.
The president IS the Executive branch of the government. The president’s job is to run the executive branch of government. Part of that job is to cut waste. What the president is doing is not unconstitutional so stop dreaming your liberal wet dreams of somehow stopping President Trump from doing his job and getting rid of waste and fraud.
Not liberal, much more conservative than you actually. And I read more news apparently. He challenged Biden when it was convenient and not Trump when it wasn’t.
Here’s an example: https://atg.sd.gov/OurOffice/Media/pressreleasesdetail.aspx?id=2629#gsc.tab=0
What Trump is doing isn’t constitutional and every Republican should be concerned for the country first. Why aren’t you able to evaluate republicans when you are one? It’s so short sighted to just go along with something because the person is in your party. Not to mention someone pointed out the Meta issue. We’ve started targeting companies without consistent policy. TikTok bad but Rednote is ok, Google is a monopoly but not Facebook? In policy alone ask more questions and on larger picture issues, you can see what he’s doing to play favorites and kiss the ring.
Show me if you will please the section in the job description and SD constitution where it says the AG is responsible for job security and public health. I’ll wait.
Now you’re concerned about the constitution? Maybe just the SD constitution, the US one doesn’t matter as much. You can’t pick and choose the laws that you follow. You’re not Trump.
Meta much Marty?
Are you serious? The AG job is law enforcement not public policy. You must have skipped civics class the day this was discussed.
Google is killing search themselves. It’s hot garage now with ads and crap results.
Now the MAGAs are piling on like Google like it’s a trans athlete or something.
Sundar Pichai even bent the knee at King Donald’s coronation. Guess it wasn’t enough.
Jackley is participating in an amicus brief attached to this case. Please calm down.
