Brandei is making an enemies list, checking it twice.. Not exactly warm and friendly leadership in the House.

In case you missed this post from incoming House Majority Whip Brandee Schaefbauer (before she deleted it), it doesn’t sound like the incoming House Leadership is going to be very “South Dakota nice.”

“At least I know who my “enemy” is when up against a democrat but I never know who the real “enemy” is when it comes to republicans.”

(You know, if you paired that with “Welcome to Aberdeen” that could be a t-shirt.)

I had always thought legislators referred to each other as “colleagues” and the people they represent are considered “constituents.”  Silly me. it’s about enemies and when the knife comes out.

Session will be so much fun.

    1. wrong? sure she is. this is a perfect illustration of how warped tea party groups become when they’re in a state with no evil democrat bogeymen to fight – they turn and devour their own party, which trump has turned to his advantage all over the country this past decade.

    1. It is even more dangerous when you start viewing political allies as “enemies”. If someone that agrees with you on 80% of issues is an enemy, then that is the problem we have in politics today.

  1. That woman couldn’t lead her way out of a wet paper bag.
I hope they let her do press conferences. Then, she can at least get some more page time in Rolling Stone for her policy and political brilliance while she ruins our state.

  2. Hmm. “Enemies list”. “Enemies from within”.
I wonder which national political leader Brandei most looks up to for her inspiration and vocabulary?

Senators Thune and Rounds have gotten their wish, and their lives are going to be miserable. 47 is going to demand their loyal obedience at every turn, starting with the confirmations of Matt Gaetz and Tulsi Gabbard – perhaps the two most unqualified people ever nominated for critically important high offices by any president.

  3. Brandei’s conduct drives more Catholic’s away from the church. An Ultra Conservative Catholic state representative displaying more hypocrisy.

  4. Vote by party instead of researching the person, this what we get. Problem is we are getting more and more of them.

  5. Ms. Brandei, who spells her name very interestingly, like a child’s doll named “Barbei,” is intriguing to grudznick. Just exactly how far over on the scale towards insanerism is she?

      1. It is known that grudznick is considered a misogynist by some.
It is also know that some, like Ms. Lynne DiSanto, “change” the spelling of their names to appear more like some sort of Vegas Showgirl. I only inquire, Brandi, if Brandei might be one of those.

PS: people make fun of grudznick’s name too, so I feel your Brandi/Brandei pain. We are brother/sisters in arms. The same.

  6. She’s not wrong. Republicans that are spineless to stand for our constitutional values should be called out!!! Congrats to her for being bold and courageous! I am doing the same in Colorado!

    1. grudznick did some checking. Turns out you are only bold and courageous in line to buy Colorado scratch tickets where you argue with the clerk over a $1 winner and hold up a bunch of upstand Coloradans who want to pay hard cash for their gasoline and sardines. Ms. Brandei, with an “e”, does not eat sardines like you do.

  7. Oh come on now, if you know anything about local politics you know Rep Brandei is speaking truth here! Your own party hanging you out to dry the hardest thing to process when you come in with good intentions and a good heart. At least you know she’s truthful and that’s something that should win you over! Cheers to Rep Brandei for saying what all of us freedom fighters in the party are thinking!

  8. it’s interesting to consider the size of the political shifts in this state over the past few decades. i would never have thought we’d see a day where mike rounds would be booed during a republican governors speech, or that people the ilk of a larry diedrich or joel dykstra would be thought of as flaming establishment liberals. good luck.
