As they continue to roll out their campaign, the Defeat 22 organization has announced their kickoff event for August 4th in Sioux Falls, as they show South Dakotans how taxpayer funded elections are not in the state’s financial interest. As well as being a stupendously bad idea.

22 needs to be defeated! VOTE NO!
-“This measure extensively revises State campaign finance laws. It requires additional disclosures and increased reporting. It lowers contribution amounts to political action committees; political parties; and candidates for statewide, legislative, or county office.———- It also imposes limits on contributions from candidate campaign committees, political action committees, and political parties.
“The measure creates an appointed ————————-ethics commission to administer the credit program and to enforce campaign finance and lobbying laws.
The measure prohibits certain State officials and high-level employees from lobbying until two years after leaving State government. It also places limitations on lobbyists’ gifts to certain state officials and staff members.”

You don’t agree with that?
The hot shots in the state party and all their cronies don’t want the voters of South Dakota to take away their goodies. Secrecy and the revolving door is how they help their buddies with sweetheart deals no oversight. Its despicable. And even more despicable that they won’t give it up.
I don’t agree with the $12M a year pricetag…I think we have many other priorities.
The ethics commission part is a joke, if we find something wrong we turn it over to the people already handling it, the AG and SOS…if it isn’t broke don’t create another unelected unaccountable board to fix it!
Further I don’t agree with lowering the amounts people can give, especially legislators…it is already difficult to raise money…we want to make it harder???
I am voting no on 22 and I encourage you to do the same.
IM 22 is the Democrat party trying to get on welfare.
Whenever I see Rick out mowing his lawn I wonder if he’s going to next have a ballot initiative for the government to mow his lawn. Since we’re all incaable of taking care of ourselves.
Who’s paying him to do all of this by the way?
Anonymous 4:21 PM, “if it’s not broke”….what planet do you live on? The Administration and the AG and GOAC are the classic whitewash trifecta — Nope, no problems here (Gear Up, EB-5, HSC etc etc etc). These guys are so awash in money, no bid contracts and look the other way arrangements they actually think they are entitled to it. Pathetic.
and how does this ethics commission solve this , even believing your premise of corruption?
