Eagles tickets are on sale. Good Lord are they expensive.

Are you one of those fellow South Dakotans who are getting tickets for the Eagles when they play the Sanford Center on June 4th?  My wife has wanted to see them in concert for longer than we’ve been married, so you know where this one’s going…

First I went here,

scalper

until I realized it was a scalper or “resale” web site, where the cheapest tickets were $257. Each.

Once that was cleared up, I hit Ticketmaster, where it wasn’t much better. I managed to get a couple of main concourse seats for $173. Each.  And that’s from the venue. Supposedly not-the-scalper.

Really?  Paying that much for concert tickets just grates on me personally, but it’s for the wifey, so sometimes a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.

But it still grates on me.

  1. It is good you don’t have a “frail grasp on the big picture” but “journalism is dead and gone”

    – Eagles

  2. Saw Billy Joel about ten years ago and paid $1,000 for 4 tickets. Good concerts are worth the money.

  3. It’s only money; can’t take it with you. Have a good time! and don’t look back.

    1. But it is nice to have some invested/saved for your retirement years. And a few thousand isn’t going to do it. I would save now and enjoy life when I’m older or if I’m dead, my wife doesn’t have to worry.

  4. We paid $125/ticket for Eagles concert in Rapid City a number of years ago. Worth every penny. Enjoy!

      1. Cliff Hadley,

Isn’t that the old Cockroach Motel? Check in but you can’t check out?

  5. Its good to see that aging 1970s liberal musicians are sticking it to the little guys in SD.

    Typical liberals.

How long has it been since the Eagle’s previous farewell tour?

Good Grief! It’s called free market! Supply and Demand! It’s voluntary also. If you don’t see the value and personally can’t justify spending the money for this entertainment then the choice is simple….don’t buy the tickets.

  6. Putting a price on a shared experience of a lifetime is difficult.

It will take several hours to get your hearing back, during which time there is no point in conversation.

So I guess nobody but you knows if it’s worth the money.

Does that refer to Pat taking his wife to the concert or….

not taking her because of the cost?

      1. See, if a couple goes to a movie, they can talk about it after.
If you go to a concert, you don’t have to talk to anybody after.

  7. Are Glenn fry and don Henley playing? If not, that certainly is not the Eagles, but a pale imitation :). But at 175 a pop they most likely are.
