Feb 2025 SDGOP FEC Report. $2.38 raised. $9.8k spent, $57.5k cash on hand.

The South Dakota Republican Party has filed their February FEC report covering the month of January 2025. And…

That headline is not a typo. They raised $2.38 (in interest). And that’s it. Less than $2.50 in income against $9.8k in expenses, leaving them $57.5k cash on hand in the federal account.

They probably spent hundreds more in preparing and filing this report then they raised.

This is why I harp on raising money as being one of the big 2 jobs of the party. When the county parties abandon their duties to help with those expenses, and they make the atmosphere toxic for the party to act on its own, it does not bode well.

    1. Good luck. The way the state central committee is currently composed, only the crazy can apply. They’re running a contest to out-crazy the crazy, and only the most crazy will do. Good luck, Republican Party. Get ready for a blue wave. The golden age of the SDGOP is over, they’re burning it down.

  1. It’s easy to blame the counties but it’s really the chair, vice chair, executive director and executive board that needs to do something.

    1. They tried, they tried to talk some sense into the heads of the idiots who have taken over many of the county parties and now serve on the state central committee.
But they would rather listen to Mike Mueller, Stu Cvrk, and Toby Doeden than to anybody sane.

The best thing would be for the existing board to execute a Yankton and move all the remaining money to a PAC and not let the door hit them on their backsides as they leave..

  2. If SD’s top 4-5 elected Republicans recommended a smart, energetic leader — someone who can raise money, recruit members, and win elections — lots of us would rally to support that person.

    1. I’m only supporting someone that vows to reign in the derelict county GOPs and hold them accountable for not following the party’s platform and serving their own self interests. Money will flow once that’s accomplished.

      1. Exactly!

I don’t think most people realize how the SDGOP is actually structured and how little influence our elected officials actually have over it.

Very few Republicans holding elected offices actually have a vote in Central Committee meetings or the State Convention.

  3. Wait a minute! It’s not all gloom. When that money train rolls into South Dakota after we win that lawsuit against Communist China for damages from COVID the SDGOP will be sitting good right?

The SDGOP could invest what money it has all into Bitcoin like another fine legislative brainiac bill we could roll the dice and win big!

It’s like the SDGOP goes dumpster diving for dollars!
