I just caught this; The Hansen/Lems Campaign, after having announced on April 24th all under the banner of a Political Action Committee, the People First PAC, quietly slipped the paperwork in on May 13th to move over to running their operation through a traditional political campaign committee, Jon Hansen for Governor:

There doesn’t seem to be any announcement that accompanied this operational change, they just slid it under the door without a peep.
The new disclaimer comes to light at the end of a new extended campaign video that was released on facebook yesterday, as well as a quiet change made to their website:

Ironically, in the video Hansen declares in part that “South Dakota Families deserve a government that puts people first, not special interests or corporate lobbyists,” ignoring the fact that he has disclosed that he derives significant parts of his income from being co-chair of a special interest organization.
This sudden declaration might be the reason behind the PAC scrubbing that they didn’t seem so concerned about when they first launched. (But, this is a political campaign, so that will probably not be mentioned.)
Stay tuned.
Hanson comes from a life of privilege that most of the people do not get to experience, he is an absolute full time politician. He is everything he says he’s against.
Hypocrites.

I was dismayed to learn that money donated to save babies was spent in tbe Republican primary to support candidates whose opponents had been rated 100% pro-life.
The candidates they endorsed received funds because they could be counted on to support Hansen in his quest for leadership positions in Pierre.
In their minds they probably justify this as part of their mission. I am trying to see it from their point of view, but one of the people they got behind was Tom Pischke, who has made a name for himself as an opponent of child support.
I literally cannot tell you how many women I have met over the years whose husbands or boyfriends abandoned them when they fell pregnant. Two of them were pregnant with their FOURTH babies. Imagine having three kids already, a fourth on the way, and your husband disappears. One of the women was a legal resident but not a citizen, and was not eligible for any public assistance. The other was able to get public assistance but her husband hid out on a reservation and it was four years before the state could get any money out of him.
When a man leaves a pregnant woman, what might have been a planned pregnancy becomes a crisis pregnancy. Men who don’t support them financially or emotionally push women to seek abortions. They are part of the problem.
A politician who has introduced bills over the years to reduce child support obligations and has gone on record in opposition to changing the formula by which child support is calculated does not deserve a 100% rating from SDRTL, nor any money from their fund.
Giving money to fellow candidates just because they can be counted on to support your bid for leadership turns the organization into a scam. As Eric Hofer noted, every great cause begins as a movement, turns into a business, and degenerates into a racket.
SDRTL has achieved racket status.
Same thing happened to Protecting SD Kids. I contacted a few of the donors to let them know how they strayed from their original stated mission. They were not happy!
