Now it’s Steve Hickey’s petition signatures being questioned

Dare I ask….. Here we go again?  From the Argus:

Several registered voters in Hartford who signed the petition to put state Rep. Steve Hickey’s name on the 2012 ballot say the lawmaker wasn’t present at the time, even though Hickey signed an oath that says he witnessed their signatures.

and..

But now questions have emerged about some of the petitions Hickey submitted in 2012. Two lawmakers at the time, Sen. Deb Peters and former Rep. Bob Deelstra, reportedly collected signatures for Hickey after his original signatures were disqualified because of a technicality by Jason Gant, who was then secretary of state. However, Hickey signed the petitions indicating that he collected the signatures.

and…

Some of the signatures submitted by Hickey were collected after a Hartford City Council meeting on March 20, 2012. Several city officials say they have no recollection of Hickey being at the meeting.

and…

But the petitions from that year do show that he had help from Lora Hubbel, who was then a state representative. Hubbel, however, signed the petitions she circulated and had them notarized.

and..

“My problem with Steve Hickey is he threw Annette Bosworth under the bus for something he did himself,” she said.

Read it all here.

If this is Lora making the accusation, I’d strongly consider the source.

But it could be more problematic if the others named confirm her story.

Never a dull moment.

  1. Good Grief! It’s the same predictable players behind this. The self-proclaimed Injustice League.

  2. “‘It’s completely implausible to me that [Deb Peters or Bob Deelstra] would have handed me a sheet that wasn’t notarized,’ [Hickey] said… Deelstra declined to comment. Peters did not return messages.”

We probably shouldn’t rule out the possibility that Steve honestly mistook the sheet in question for one of his own when he took them to the notary, especially if his 2010 and 2014 petitions were clean.

    1. Honest people fill out the petition forms showing who carried the petitions for signatures. If Peters, Deelstra, and Hickey are put under oath? Someone is going to be in big trouble.

Hickey’s absolute statements about Bosworth make him look like a total hypocritical ass.

Jackley’s comments about Bosworth’s perjury now make him look corrupt because he isn’t doing anything about these establishment cronies.

The good news is, this scandal should be enough to get rid of RINOs Hickey & Peters.

  3. It is really too bad that the Bosworth situation wasn’t handled a little differently.

    1. you mean take responsibility for her actions right away and avoid all this drama?

  4. Take responsibility instead of making excuses like the pastor of a church should? Responsibility for checking petitions lies squarely on the shoulders of the person filing.

  5. Another crazy controversy caused because South Dakota doesn’t allow candidates to submit filing fees instead of petitions.

    1. Yes, that’s exactly the problem and not that someone was dishonest and claimed to have collected signatures they didn’t.
