If you’re not in the club, you might be a leaker!

Certain House and Senate legislators are being carved up and divided along not party lines, but on whether they’re in the right legislative clique. Because if they aren’t – when it comes to communicating with state leaders – they might be a dirty leaker!

Rep. Aaron Aylward, who spearheaded the letter-writing campaign, told The Dakota Scout the group felt an urgency to send the correspondence due to escalating geopolitical tensions around the globe — particularly wars involving Ukraine and Russia and Israel and Hamas.

and…

Aylward told The Scout only 55 lawmakers were asked to sign onto the letters due to fears of “leaks.”

Read that here.

A letter to our US Senator on policy which is apparently too secret to talk to all legislators about? ‘Due to fear of leaks?”

We live in interesting times. And paranoid times.

  1. Must need exacting credentials to get in their club. Like the propensity to take walks on tough votes. Aylward, Howard, Mullaly……If I continue I will complete the list of signers.

  2. List of signers please. This session hasn’t even started and already it’s an embarrassment. South Dakota is certainly going to make some headlines this year.

  3. “Fear of Leaks?”

Is this Aylward in middle school? They put their names on a letter and send it to the congressional delegation so now it’s public. They only do it to get attention. Wouldn’t they want leaks? Or were they afraid somebody would tell Thune “Hey, I heard a rumor somebody’s going to send you a letter. Watch out.”

      1. They actually stand with Trump and a majority of the American people.

This is dumb though. They shouldn’t be worried about leaks. What it the big deal about leaks? It’s a letter?

        1. No! The majority of the American people do not stand with Trump on this issue of abandoning Ukraine to Putin, NATO, our strategic partners and alliances across the globe.

  5. State legislators holding US Senators accountable is exactly what the founding fathers intended when they made selection of US Senators the exclusive power of State Legislatures.

    1. You’re missing the entire point here. No one is saying they shouldn’t be held accountable. What’s wrong about this entire situation is only some legislators were asked. When we have a Democrat attorney general and SOS, this entire group will be scratching their heads wondering what happened.

    2. That’s cute. Remind me again though, didn’t the founding fathers also institute a means by which the Constitution could be changed so that, “Children would not be confined to the clothes of their fathers” right?

  6. Why are they scared of people knowing!? We are the voters, we are YOUR BOSSES. The deep state is strong in these legislators.

  7. Nice knowing 55 individuals in Pierre are either too dumb to understand what soft-power and influence are or are dumb enough to swallow R*ssian propoganda. Really builds confidence in our leadership this legislative session.

  8. Embarrassing. Sad to see some of the names on the list- I doubt they would have approved of Aylward’s interview where he names Israel as a country we don’t want to help fight terrorists like Hamas. This looks to be a bit of bait and switch by Aylward. The letter loosely states the Libertarian stance on cutting foreign aid and then after the letter is signed by members, Aylward releases the letter to the media and gives a statement that the letter deals with cutting aid to Ukraine and Israel. If I were one of the letter signers, I would demand to have my name taken off. Each one of the signers need to be asked directly if they agree with Aylward’s statement that the US should abandon Israel and their fight to defend their country from Iran’s proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.

  9. The quality of legislators sent to Pierre on what is now falsely branded SDGOP has plummeted. What was Aylward’s past connection to the SD Libertarian Party and how many times did he run for office under that party?

Not calling them out publicly for being as dumb as they are on many issues is a disservice to all.

We as a state and nation have been and will continue to pay a heavy price for this level of stupidity. Thank you Senate Majority Leader Thune for being on the “Black List”. It is a badge of honor displaying sanity and intelligence.

    1. Yes. Smartie Hansen knows better. He just gets his mineons to do his dirty work. Can’t knock a man for surrounding himself with dummies who worship him.

  10. Support Russia, North Korea, China and Iran?? That’s the thinking of the “True Conservatives” in the Republican Party. Abandon NATO?? Let Putan stroll into Central Europe including the three Baltic States (NATO members), Moldova, Poland, and wherever else they choose. That is the choice of Patriotic Americans?
