Is Minnehaha County having a problem with the ballot counting process?

I had a note dropped to me that there’s chatter going around to the effect of “Word from Minnehaha County that only halfway through even opening Absentee Ballots. Auditor put out a call for emergency help.”

Don’t know if that’s true or not, but we’re not seeing much in terms of results from the state’s largest county at a few minutes to 10pm.  This might be a performance check of Minnehaha County Auditor Leah Anderson that it will be hard for her County Commission to ignore.

Of course, this is also coming as I’m told Leah is reportedly telling anyone who will listen that she’s running for SOS in 2026.

  1. At 11:15 Minnehaha County is only reporting 9 partial precincts out of 81?? Wow some real efficient counting machines.

  2. I have no confidence she can count any higher than 20, and that high only because that’s the limit of her fingers and toes.

  3. 1 – is there a budget for hand counting, or does ES&S gobble that up?
2 – given we know all the issues with the machines, would people hand count for honest work?
3 – did the commission give her support and budget for hand counting when support was dropped?
    4 – why/why not?
5 – what was it incumbent on the commission to do? For the auditor?

The setup was pretty easy to spot on this one, and I wouldn’t blame the auditor.

    Sincerely,

    John

  4. I worked the opening and processing of absentee and mailed ballots yesterday and was surprised to find well under 1/2 of the same amount of workers as was prearranged for the 2020 election with about the same amount of ballots to process. Someone needs
to lose their job over this incompetence. Very poor planning and preparation
