In chaoter 6 verse 5 of the gospel of Matthew, Jesus Christ instructed his disciples:
“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.”
Seems like there are some grapes that have gone sour,
That’s an odd response.
Maybe this is more like that Sermon on the Mount stuff about being the light of the world, a city upon a hill, let your light shine so that all can see.
Prayer is a good way to start anything, especially a new term of government.
It is, providing the purpose of the prayer is to bring honor and praise to God.
If the purpose of a prayer is to enhance one’s own reputation, the prayer is without value.
Since I can’t peer into the heart of the Governor, I have no capacity to judge her motive and without evidence I owe it to my fellow Christians to give her the benefit of the doubt.
That said I appreciate and am glad Governor Noem chose to start this journey with worship. While the fruits may end up undetectable, I have every confidence they will be significant.
That didn’t read right. I want to be clear I also have every confidence her motives were pure and sincere. My comment was focused on the futileness of judging hearts/motives without evidence.
You mean like saying a certain losing politician is just asking for money to pay back his wife? You sure like to claim to be a Christian but you continually show how you like to talk the talk but not walk the walk.
I am confident her purpose of bringing prayer to the capital is to praise God. Kristi and her family are not bashful in praising Him. They do not grandstand their praise. Their praise and worship of Him is the same whether people are watching or not. I am one that supports bringing God into our lives.
