According to twitter and other reports, the Marsy’s Law petitions have been turned in with over 53,000 signatures turned in to the Secretary of State’s office, making the Constitutional Amendment the first petition to be turned in for review and certification.

And how are all the States Attorneys supposed to carry this out if it is passed?
Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification system is all automated and includes notification to victims. SD is one of the last five states to use it, but we will be online soon. Marsy’s Law passed in CA and IL and has been implemented without problems.

I am curious how the hell they got 53,000 signatures. Don’t they have to be registered SD votes? What percentage is that? The number strains credulity.
That is an impressive number. I helped circulate petitions and was surprised by how much support there is to strengthen victim rights in our state. Getting signatures was easy.
