Notes from the Brown County Lincoln Day Dinner

The word is there was NO announcement from Jason Williams last night at the Brown County Lincoln Day Dinner, despite the event promotion claiming there would be “a statewide candidate announcement” by the Brown County GOP.

Deputy Treasurer Williams was set to announce he is running for State Treasurer, but apparently his family was unable to make it, so he passed on pulling the trigger.  Which… we’re not running with a lot of GOP dinners, so not sure when he’s planning on doing this. Constitutional offices are the only office where it’s potentially worth going to these events.

Anyone else? It’s not as if anyone’s going to change how they vote based on a Lincoln Day dinner.

Senator Tom Pischke was in attendance expressing pointed regrets to former Brown County Chair Katie Washnok who is on vacation in Mexico. But he might need to go to the clinic for the burn he received:

And apparently, Rep. Logan Manhart kept up with his High School Band instrument sufficiently to whip it out for the GOP Dinner:

And good for him for having an interest in the arts. Now, if someone would explain to Rep. Manhart that school vouchers divert funding away from public schools, potentially reducing resources available for extracurricular activities like band programs.

      1. If I was running for governor I’d want to be everywhere there are people. Just because a lot of people in the gop don’t like a pipeline or are rabid trump supporters doesn’t mean there aren’t 100 other issues to agree on.

Why would another candidate a free shot at 200 votes?

Rhoden would own Lincoln Days. He would be well received by most people. He’s the governor. He signed 1052 and almost every other bill that passed the legislature.

He’s a good guy. He has a lot going for him. These are also likely volunteers, donors, sign locations.

I know Dusty isn’t perceived to be the biggest trump supporter but don’t you think we would all benefit from hearing him talk about what he’s doing to advance Trumps agenda? He still votes with him 99% of the time?

What about Mike Rounds? Working to get rid of the Department of Education? He supported all of Trump’s nominees.

John Thune is the majority leader – he got all of Trump’s nominees passed.

Lots of conservative things to tell voters about. SD has a lot going for us.

        1. Ummm….they were working…like Johnson voted yesterday to pass the SAVE act…Plus why would Johnson want to be in the same building owned by the ass hat that has been calling him a RINO for the last year.

            1. I hope he does. And his past will come to the forefront. And that past will make anyone whomever took a picture with him crawl into a hole and his entire empire will collapse.

  1. I heard Jackley stole the show. He praised Hansen as Speaker and Doeden as a figure helping support conservatives.

This is why Jackley is my choice for governor. He’s someone who will bring us together.

This is the kind of unity we need.

We are not nearly as divided as we like to pretend.

    1. I think you misspelled “brown nosed” – Jackley is very clearly kissing up, he’s not unifying anyone. That’s calf pandering.

    1. We don’t need a brown noser. We need bold leadership. He’s fine, but isn’t going to move any needles.

    2. We don’t need another lawyer who goes whichever way the wind blows. Jackley has no backbone, he’s a suit. I’m done with lawyers in politics, it’s plain wrong.

  2. Tom Pischke has the worst aura of any man I’ve ever met or heard speak. He has this perfectly hate worthy personality where it’s very obvious he is greatly satisfied with himself and believes himself to be a very intelligent man, but then he starts talking and he’s by far the dumbest man in every room he walks into. I dont mean to insult folks on the spectrum, but he sounds EXACTLY like an autistic kid from my old high school class who would speak very matter-of-fact on topics such as Pokémon or Dragon Ball Z…. which is actually way smarter and cooler than the stuff Pisske bathers about. “Oh no, not muh chemtrulls”

    What. A. Dope.

    1. Tom Pischke is the Fredo Corleone of the Republican party: “I can handle things! I’m smart! Not like everybody says… like dumb… I’m smart and I want respect!”

  3. If anyone had character and ethics they would have boycotted this event with all the past atrocious posts and actions by Doeden including glorifying a self described NAZI Mark Robinson featured speaker event in Sioux Falls last fall. His associated Dumpster Divers being birds of a feather. Anyone running for office or having a business attending that event should have been disqualifying. Unbelievable and Disgusting! It is a small venue that many Aberdonians avoid like the plague since it is owned by Doeden. Is there a list of attendees? Looks like a city council candidate attended.

The need and opportunity is there for alternate events with a clear distinction of what they are and why.
