Poll: Americans like what Kristi Noem is doing to secure the border

From Rasmussen Reports, ignoring what the media is trying to portray, Americans are telling the pollster they like the job that former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is doing at DHS:

Voters have a much higher opinion of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) now that Kristi Noem is secretary of the department.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 49% of Likely U.S. Voters say DHS is doing a good or excellent job of securing the U.S. border and preventing illegal immigration under Secretary Noem. That’s up from 29% in November 2023, when Alejandro Mayorkas was DHS secretary.

  1. I saw the videos of the US Senator pulled to the floor and cuffed for asking a question at her presser and also of ICE agents chasing down, tackling and cuffing a migrant picking strawberries in a California field. Is this what we have become as a country?

    1. He didn’t just ask a question. He came in hot and yelling. When you present yourself as a threat, be prepared to get treated as one. All Dems seem to know how to do is yell, yell, yell. That is indicative of their maturity and intellect.

      1. Identifying himself as “Senator Alex Padilla” and having been escorted into the room by agents should have made clear the threat was non-existent. He maybe an idiot who is clueless on immigration, but not a threat. Even Lewandowski was smart enough to see how bad it looked and ordered the agents off.

        1. because no lunatic coming in off the street is capable of declaring himself to be a member of Congress?
They were not going to buy his claim without some proper identification

          1. Lunatic who gained access to a secure area of a federal building? Getting past multiple layers of checkpoints and agents? Brought into the room by other federal agents? Come on. He’s a loudmouth jackass who wanted the attention he is getting, but to honestly think he was capable of being threatening in any way is too big a stretch.

  2. I have also seen the video. Secretary Noem was speaking and he didn’t “ask a question,” he started yelling at her. He is wearing casual clothing and behaving like the usual clowns who show up and start yelling, and the security guards, who probably had no idea who he was, treated him the way they treat everybody else who behaves that way.
He could have contacted her office and asked for a private meeting, but that would not have gotten him on any Sunday morning news shows.

As for the scenes of ICE agents catching people, I was working at Morrells over 25 years ago, during the Clinton administration, when they raided the place, and I don’t remember it even making the local news. The only thing that has changed is the news coverage.

      1. And yet, during his presidency there was constant whining about the omnipresent threat of immigration and how he was doing nothing to stop it. The dems are hypocrites, but so are the republicans. Shocking, I know. We’re just gonna keep ping ponging this nonsense back and forth while the country slips due to our rabid tribalism.

        1. During the Clinton administration, the DOJ announced that no illegal immigrant could be deported if he had an unresolved EEOC complaint filed against an employer, who could not legally hire him anyway. It was a “stay in the USA free card” for every illegal immigrant in the country.
If we refused to hire somebody, he filed a complaint. Any sort of disciplinary action against somebody we did hire resulted in a complaint. Any time they were told “no,” they filed complaints. It was nuts.
We had two men with the same name, DOB and SSN, “Donnie Barnes” didn’t speak a word of English, a woman who had purchased health insurance at Morrell’s used a different identity when she was admitted to hospital to have a baby, and the insurance refused to cover it. A young man with minimal facial hair and the epiphyses in his fingers weren’t hardened yet, had an ID that said he was 31 years old. We were not supposed to hire anybody under 18 so it was a concern.
When we reported them to ICE, we were told to “hire them so we’ll know where to pick them up.” Even when they’re too young.
One young woman described how she spent a whole summer working as a farm laborer, only to have her employer refuse to pay her because she was underage, and paying her would be a violation of child labor laws.

Having broken the immigration system, the Democrats then complained “our immigration system is broken,” but they don’t want to fix it.

          1. See, this is the sort of misleading nonsense that makes me believe we will never get anywhere as a country. You are correct: Clinton did do that. The law that allowed him to do so was the IIRIRA, or Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. This bill, which you conveniently left out, was both sponsored by republicans and passed by a congress completely controlled by republicans. You are participating in the exact same sort of hypocrisy I criticized in the first place. Call balls and strikes, Anne. No matter who is at the plate. Both parties are responsible for where we are at.

  3. Ready, Fire, Aim. Now it’s TACO Time again, except this time instead of the tariff hokey pokey, it’s the immigrants hokey pokey. Anyone confused yet? Trump Always Chickens Out. TACO Time!

Now Trump is one of the 51% who disapproves of the ICE raids on hotels, farms and restaurants. He has “paused” them, just like when he starts clucking like a chicken and “pauses” bits and pieces of his ridiculous tariffs. Oopsie notice to Ice Barbie and Tough Guy Tom. Back to the drawing board. Maybe time for some fresh new kinder, gentler Barbie costumes. Gawd almighty, what a shitshow.

  4. Are these the same people who are going to be complaining that strawberries cost $20 yet can’t figure out why that could possibly happen?

  5. Remember when all you people were all about “free speech”, yeah that was a funny few weeks. lol
