Rounds Statement on Passing of Former Governor Walter Dale Miller
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement on the passing of former Governor Walter Dale Miller:
“Jean and I send our deepest sympathies to Pat and the Miller family as they deal with this tragic loss,” said Rounds. “Walt was a longtime friend and mentor who led our state through a difficult time. His love of South Dakota and legacy of public service is one we can all admire. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the Millers.”

God speed Walter D. This is a loss, but what marks it as “tragic”?
A number of items why it is tragic:
1) Losing old wise hands is always tragic, even if inevitable.
2) Pat and the family were planning a major 90th birthday for him next week.
3) Walt was in relative good health for being almost 90. He was down in Houston at the Bush Library working his bucket list.
I just found it an odd word choice to describe a man who lived a rich, full life to the ripe old age of 89. Rounds staff could do better.
