Oh my God, may the Grace of God be with Paul and his family. I am in shock.
Paul was a good guy. He was a committed and very effective public servant.
I had the pleasure to work for Paul while I was with State Government in the Rounds Administration. He was truly a straight shooter.
Back in the days of “blog infancy,” I recall an occasion when someone higher up didn’t like the fact that I had started writing the SDWC in my free time, and was trying to put their thumb on me by sending a message down the food chain. Paul put his foot down, and told them that wasn’t going to happen.
It wasn’t something he had to do for a minor employee, but he did it anyway, because of his sense of propriety. As Chris noted, he was a committed and very effective public servant. He served the State of South Dakota well.
