So how are they going to report those cash donations?

Sounds like the Hansen/Lemmings campaign are taking fundraising suggestions from the SDGOP:

What will that net them? A couple hundred?

And let’s not forget this state law:

12-27-11. Required information about contributors–Contributions from unknown source to be donated to charitable entity–Violation as misdemeanor.

No person, entity, candidate, or political committee may give or accept a contribution unless the name, mailing address, city and state of the contributor is made known to the person, entity, candidate, or political committee receiving the contribution. In addition to any other information to be made known under this section, the name of the custodial parent or parents of an unemancipated minor who makes a contribution shall be made known. Any contribution, money, or other thing of value received by a candidate or political committee from an unknown source shall be donated to a nonprofit charitable entity. A violation of this section is a Class 2 misdemeanor. A subsequent offense within a calendar year is a Class 1 misdemeanor.

How exactly will that work with “tips?” Last I knew, most people don’t fill out a campaign contribution card for tips at Pizza Ranch.

  1. Pizza Ranch Fundraisers. Perfect for dance teams, hockey teams, choirs, and gubernatorial campaigns.

Hint: one of these is not like the others. Which do you think does not belong?

  2. This isn’t the first time they’ve played fast and loose with the rules. Earlier this year, Minnehaha GOP leadership was pushing for those sketchy “Pizza Ranch” cash donations—aka untraceable “tips” that clearly violate campaign finance laws.
It’s the same group behind the ridiculous emails, trying to rewrite the bylaws or outright overthrow the party. And if you don’t blindly support Jon Hansen, they’ll label you a RINO, a traitor, or worse.
It’s political bullying disguised as grassroots activism. Funny how the “law and order” crowd is always the first to ignore the law when it benefits their clique.

  3. so it’s tomorrow evening, and it’s not listed on the SDGOP events calendar, & nothing listed for anybody except Dylan Jordan’s thing and 15 of Toby Doeden’s events.

    Seriously, Hansen 0
    Johnson 0
    Rhoden 0
    Dylan Jordan 1
    Doeden 15

    1. Probably a good thing! It’s embarrassing. Are they going to be selling cookies next for the fundraiser?

  4. It might be worth going to this just because it conflicts with Doeden’s event at the steakhouse in Highmore, which is being promoted by the SDGOP.

  5. Ms. Lems, the words “Sioux Falls” go on the “Where” line.

When you are washing dishes at the Rapid City Pizza Ranch, please be sure to blog it here so I know.

    1. Besides, there are 2 Pizza Ranches in SF, and I can’t believe there are enough Hansen/Lems supporters in the whole state to cover them both at once.

Also, I didn’t realize tipping at a self service buffet was a thing.

  6. So, is it Pizza Ranch that is on the hook for this illegal activity? or is it Hansen/Lems? or both. I think there are probably laws prohibiting this action for both camps – easier for Pizza Ranch to withdraw permission for this and avoid hot water.
