State Representative Travis Ismay explains how to give people chronic diarrhea by poisoning them with eye drops & how we should have a income tax.

Ladies & gentlemen of Butte County, here’s your District 28B State Representative Travis Ismay, as he imparts wisdom in the Butte County Commission chambers, on how non-violent juvenile offenders should break rocks in quarries, how we need an income-based tax for property, and how to poison people with eye drops for fun and entertainment.

All caught on the cameras for the Butte County Commission chambers.  Seriously.  The Butte County Commission had gone into executive session for a period of time, and while they were there, State Representative Ismay took the opportunity to impart his steaming nuggets of wisdom.

Juvenile incarceration? Let them break rocks. Nevermind that the work camp approach killed Gina Score, and cost state taxpayers $1.25 millionProperty Tax Relief? Let’s create a new income tax for property.  Which party is he with again? Because creating a South Dakota Income Tax sounds a lot like a Democrat talking point.

And what every member of the House Education committee discusses with their constituents – “Want to give someone chronic diarrhea?” Of course, he tells his friend to poison them with eye drops, which can actually kill you dead as hell.

Don’t take my word for it – Here’s selected video clips from the May 25th Butte County Commission hearing room:

In case you want to go through the extensive video yourself, you can find it on YouTube.

  1. Pat, not to be picky, but I don’t think the transcript of what Ismay says is all that clear. Is he a whackadoodle? Yes. But I’m not sure that’s exactly what he said. Or at the least, it is muddled by the poor audio and cross talk with the other people he’s with. Maybe he’ll learn to keep his big yap shut after this.

  2. Didn’t even show an inkling that what he said was inappropriate when called out at the following commissioner meeting. District 28b is looking really good being represented by this. Scott Odenbach should apologize for helping get this ignoramus elected.

  3. Former Doedite now Lemming SD State Representative Travis Ismay. Did he realize there are old abandoned Uranium mines nearby that need to be cleaned up? Superfund sites? Will the 2026 legislative session be the worst in SD history or will 2025 hold the record?

    1. Ismay. Manhart. Jordan.

And the race to see who is the dumbest legislator continues to grow.

Let’s see who joins the group next.

    1. Listening to the whole conversation hurt my head. That might be the three dumbest people in butte county. At least I hope it is. Wow. How did he get elected?

  4. Should be noted that Pischke was censured for way less than this. Of course Tom Brunner campaigned with Ismay so he doesn’t have the guts to do the right thing.

  5. Travis lives in this deluded fantasy world where he thinks he knows how to live everyone else’s lives better than they do.

    1. Looks like Travis is a more popular name than I realized! While I certainly understand the sentiment expressed above, I don’t necessarily share in it. In fact, I am anything but happy with the current the course of the Republican party.

County GOPs showing favor to certain candidates during the primary set a very bad precedent. The lack of decorum being shown at conventions has become embarrassing. The disrespect being shown to public servants, government employees and the general public has become appalling. In the end, the “burn it all down” mentality will not benefit any of us.

I can appreciate a grassroots movement and the impetus behind it. People may want change or feel they aren’t being heard, but to be effective in their pursuit, they need to elect people that can represent them effectively, rationally and respectfully. Unfortunately, too many of our newly elected legislators do not agree and are choosing to yell at, bully and belittle those with whom they disagree. This is an ineffecitve approach to governance, creating greater and unneccesary division.

We should be expecting more from those who represent us, our districts and our state. The sheer number of bills that I read this year that gave no thought to consequences, unintended or otherwise, was staggering. There was a clear lack of understanding or critical thinking. I can only suggest that everyone vote in the next election to restore order, respect and common sense back into our institutions.
