WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) this week discussed the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) decision to allow haying and grazing of cover crops on prevent plant acres without reducing a producer’s crop insurance indemnity. The decision from USDA came just one week after Thune convened a meeting with USDA Deputy Secretary Steve Censky and USDA Undersecretary Bill Northey during which Thune relayed South Dakota producers’ concerns and strongly encouraged USDA to allow for early, penalty-free haying and grazing of cover crops given this year’s tough growing conditions.

  1. Thune hates socialism. Unless it’s socialism that helps the knotheads who keep sending him back to Washington. Good job, you bunch of capitalists!

South Dakota is a welfare state – dependent on the federal government confiscating money from people who live in states that have actual economies, like California, New York and other places you all hate. But you’ll take their money, won’t you? Proud capitalists, you all are!

  2. Earth to Thune. There are other people in South Dakota besides farmers like rednecks, guys who like to kill animals for kicks, and more importantly, the USD law graduate that practices hick justice.
