Thune Statement on Israeli Airstrikes in Iran

Thune Statement on Israeli Airstrikes in Iran

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement:

“For too long, the mullahs in Iran have publicly aspired to wipe the only democracy in the Middle East off the face of the map via any means possible: funding and arming terror groups on Israel’s borders, choking off international sea lanes, and multiple barrages of missiles and drones. Just today, Iran was found once again to be in violation of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations, which is unacceptable. Iran must never gain access to a nuclear weapon,” said Thune.

“Today, Israel has determined that it must take decisive action to defend the Israeli people. The United States Senate stands ready to work with President Trump and with our allies in Israel to restore peace in the region and, first and foremost, to defend the American people from Iranian aggression, especially our troops and civilians serving overseas. Iran should heavily consider the consequences before considering any action against Americans in the region.”

  1. Well said, Senator Thune. Americans, especially South Dakotans, are comforted by your presence and grateful for your service on our behalf.

  2. Let’s go TACO – Trump asked them not to, they did it anyway, MAGA scrambles to kiss Israel’s behind…again.

Absence of leadership at all levels of MAGA including Goon.

    1. Trump bailed on the Nuke Deal Obama negotiated with Iran which lead Iran to restart their nuke program which is why we are in this situation today. So yeah Trump is to blame for this.

      1. BS…but let’s play. Who was resident of the White House over the last 4 years where most of the progress Iran made toward a nuke was accomplished. Oh ya, that would be stumbles biden. If he was such a great president and had such great forethought and foreign policy skills, why didn’t the senile wonder do anything about it?

        Let’s go BASH!

  3. Trump is a terrible leader, but this can’t be blamed on him. Intelligence indicates that Iran was within weeks of completing the enrichment for its first nuke. Israel struck enrichment sites and numerous nuclear scientists because it didnt want a nation that has openly vowed to annihilate it getting nukes. Whether or not this was the correct move is anyone’s guess, as it will definitely kick off more violence, as Iran’s launching of shaheds has already shown.

However, this should also show people that you can’t believe some candidate’s claim about him unilaterally bringing peace worldwide. It’s not his fault that the attacks happened. It IS his fault for lying that he could prevent it all during the campaign.

  4. Remember when MAGA was all about “not creating any more wars” lol? That was a funny month or so….

    1. MAGA thinks we’ve always been at war with Eurasia, except for when we were at war with Oceana. Quite double-plus ungood at consistency they are.
