I just received this in my mailbox, and as you can see, Senator Mike Rounds just did the below fundraising letter to presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee from his own campaign’s fundraising list:

Wow. What a game changer for Huckabee. He’s back in the race!
Mike how did you get elect this guy is so far out there he should be an astronaut but people like you support a guy who can’t even get more than one percent.Grab some Photo ops like Thune and a basketball then we can call you photo op.
Its a very good letter as it captures both of the “why’s.”
1) Senator Rounds observed him directly and was impressed with his governance skills.
2) Governor Huckabee is running mostly on his social conservative agenda.
Unfortunately for Huckabee, after you strip out the 15% of those most conservative and the 15% most liberal, the issues motivating voters is first and foremost jobs and economic growth (for Republicans and Republican leaning Independents) or economic inequality (for Democrats and Democrat leaning Independents) and secondarily world unrest/ISIS. Together these issues encapsulate the primary decisional factor of over 85% of the 70% of Americans not in the two “very’s.”
You see it the issues Trump is pivoting to talk about, you see it in Bush & Rubio’s messaging (working better for Rubio than Bush but both are seeing the same polls), you see it Fiorina’s growing support. You also see it the traditional Democrat base (unions) who are hoping for a Biden entry. You saw it in Clinton’s attempt prior to her email & Sanders problems trying to not pander to the liberal 15% hard core.
You also see it in the floundering of Paul’s campaign (philosophical libertarianism), Cruz’ “outsider lite” and “Huckabee lite” messaging, Christie’s “still a 9-11” world, and Kasich’s “good governance” focus.
