I can’t help but wonder if the mainstream media is spending an inordinate amount of time promoting election related ballot issues such as Amendment V and Initiated Measure 22. In most normal years, they would have paid them little to no mind. Now, we see a couple stories a week.
This seems to be coinciding with another phenomenon I’ve noticed. We’re literally at two weeks before the election, and what haven’t we seen? Any significant ad buys from statewide candidates. I’ve been looking at some of the public files available to review, and there’s a definite lack of state candidates spending money with media outlets this year.
Chris Nelson has some cable TV ad time purchased on Midco cable systems. But have you seen John Thune ads around KELO-TV News? Or any significant number of Kristi Noem ads? We know Jay Williams doesn’t have any money, and while she might have a couple of youtube videos up on social media, Paula Hawks doesn’t have anything noticeable either.
What are you seeing locally? Are candidates running tight this year, or is this just a state race phenomena?
Kristi will need every penny in a race for governor.
If she leaves DC then she will be the front runner and have to face questions about what she has accomplished. So far I think about all is defeating SHS. Obamacare, the deficit are all still there. It’s a bigger mess in DC now than 6 years ago. Not her fault but it’s hard to sell with candidates pointing out short comings.
I think Thune should have much more to answer for then Noem; he is in Republican leadership in the Senate, and he has not tried to oust McConnell, one of the biggest dipsticks in the Senate. I wish Thune would try to push for somebody else as Senate majority leader since Mitchy boy is clearly not a leader for conservatism.
Sometimes I think it’s harder to be the front runner. Especially when donors are not giving her the respect they should be. They definitely wanted Mickelson at the govs hunt and the govs office is definitely behind him.
Jeb!
That’s unfortunate….Mikelson is clearly not ready to be governor.
Thune and Noem should be using their money to one 1) run a few positive ads for themselves and 2) to defeat T, V and 22…all these liberal ballot measures need to be defeated and all the liberal newspapers are for T&V it seems…even they are not buying 22 though.
