Who’s running for statewide office in the SDGOP in 2022?

Here’s the newest version of my “Tale of the Tape, infographic, in the “too early to be thinking of 2022” edition:

  1. Brunner has been the best lands commissioner in 50 years. His opinion on that race matters a lot to me.

    1. Brunner has done a good job, but I also appreciated the job that Jarod Johnson had done cleaning up the mess that his Dem predecessor had left.

      1. Commissioner Brunner, just tell me who to support or if you are neutral tell me who I shouldn’t support.

  2. I guess that shows what the incumbents are more worried about – discharging their elected responsibilities or saving butt.

  3. Is it a race to identify a competitor to defeat or to conduct the affairs in the best interests of the state?

    1. I’ve heard a 4th candidate might run for public lands. Kind of a unity candidate that governor Noem supports.

    1. Who knows? The Dems (Mueller) spent years and more than $25 million taxpayer dollars investigating Trump, whom they all said was guilty. All that was discovered was the Steel dossier, which accused Trump of wrong doing and was the basis of the Trump investigation, was a fraud paid for by the Clinton campaign.

I, myself, would wait to see If charges are brought, if JR is then found guilty, before making such a dumb statement.

      1. No you wouldn’t. Your statement at 5:29am was dumber than the original post, so your premise is invalid.

        1. And what was in error in my 5:29 statement? Or are you one of those who still believe that Trump, or his campaign colluded with Russia? You have my sympathy for your ignorance.

  4. i will say it since no one else has. Honestly, regardless of the outcome of the Ravensborg investigation, I think it would be a mistake for him to seek re-election. He has done a lot for the state, but would have difficulty winning another election.

    1. Pretty sure the investigation into Jason’s accident was completed months ago. No charges have been filed so that’s how you know what they found: nothing.
Announcing “nothing” is a no-win for all interested parties, as the tinfoil hats and Democrats will all scream it’s a coverup. Nothing anybody rational tells them will convince them otherwise, so it’s better not to say anything at all. Just keep telling the loons “no comment; it’s ongoing” and continue working on real stuff. What can anybody gain by arguing with idiots?
Just tell them it’s an ongoing investigation and it’s inappropriate to comment on it. Then go back to work.

        1. I’m not Jason.
          I’m just an observer.
the last thing we need is somebody like Lora Hubbel standing out in the middle of a road re-enacting the accident.
You know that’s what we’ll get if the investigation is ever officially closed.

          1. The dems will reenact it all general election.

It’s a sad situation but it is a political fact.

Term limits for PUC? It seems like a good idea. They have all served longer than than 8 years.

  5. If Ravnsborg doesn’t run or gets challenged who are the top contenders?

    Haggar?
    Vargo?
    Seward?
    Venhuizen?
    Wollman?

      1. Jason isn’t going to be incarcerated. The investigators have had plenty of time to wrap this up.
But can you imagine the circus which will occur if it is ever officially concluded?

Angela Kennecke will be out blathering about how somebody at the Lincoln Day Dinner ordered a beer but nobody knows who drank it.
Tara Volesky will insist the investigation was flawed because Stace Nelson didn’t lead it.
Pressure will be brought to bear on the Chairmen of the House and Senate Judiciary Committtees to hold exhaustive hearings.

And Lora Hubbel will be standing out in the highway in the middle of the night to re-enact the accident. (Mr Powers himself might volunteer to drive the car. though.)

I hope that investigation remains in “ongoing” status for many years.

  6. The only prayer atheist Cory Heidelberger has of becoming a viable candidate in South Dakota is the one his pastor wife says to get him the hell out of the house and out of her hair. He’s simply another short guy without any trace of self-awareness.

    1. What does heidelberger have to do with this post? Comment on a man’s beliefs and stances rather than his family and height. You should be better than that, shame.

  7. A Ravnsborg candicacy for re-election is DOA, regardless of the fate of the legal situation in which he finds himself.

  8. Brock Greenfield?!?!
Mr. Greenfield may have avoided accountability from his constituents for the shenanigans at the conclusion of the 2020 legislative session.
He won’t be so fortunate with a candidacy for state office.
