You win an election, and everyone wants a piece of you.

From Facebook, Libertarians are crowing that one of their own won something. Or maybe not:

From the Secretary of State (Live data from this AM), a notation of Political Party: IND

A person can check with the SOS, but I don’t think IND stands for Libertarian.

Just sayin’

  1. Pat seems to be conflating registration with membership. He’s a bona fide, dues-paying member of the Libertarian Party, as the post states. One’s personal voter registration can be separate from national party membership. What’s important is that he will fight for the libertarian ideals of smaller government and less government interference. Rapid City is lucky to have him.

Nice try at a “gotcha moment” though. 😂

    1. Gideon, in over thirty years of working in state politics as an adult, when a political party says that someone is a member of their political party, I can honestly say that this is the first time that I’ve ever heard a political party claim that someone was “a member of the Libertarian Party” as a result of paying dues like a ladies luncheon club.

        1. I don’t think the GOP has to “claim” anyone is a member, solely upon whether they participated in a fundraising drive.

You (meaning your political party) might claim Mr. Lehmann on the basis of him paying $5, but the bigger question is whether he’s willing to change his registration and publicly declare his allegiance to the Libertarian Party.

          Until then…

    2. Gideon parks at City Hall next time they have a council meeting so he can say they are all Libertarian.

      Gotta catch ’em all.

  2. Being Independent does not mean you belong to the Independent party because there is no such party in SD. Lance will represent the Rapid City council and Libertarian party very well.

  3. Every time you see such a weak criticism, it only shows you are making ground Gideon. Keep up the good work and don’t let the naysayers drag you down to such stupid levels. This is about as in depth as their research gets around here.

  4. Maybe Gideon thinks we can identify as a political party that we are not registered as, kinda like gender identity.

  5. Did he campaign telling people he was a libertarian or an Independent?
