SD Searchlight roasts Jon Hansen’s sudden discovery of years’ old information in prison debate

Seth Tupper at SD Searchlight has a new opinion piece roasting 2% Gubernatorial wannabe Jon Hansen’s sudden revelation of years-old information in his failed attempt to derail the prison project:

“I have confirmed,” the press release said, “that the South Dakota Department of Corrections has been using your tax dollars to provide transgender cross-sex hormones to convicted criminals in prison.”

The release went on to accuse the department of “hiding” a policy that includes a treatment committee and payments to an “East Coast college professor” for gender dysphoria services.

The late onset of Hansen’s sudden interest in prison health care was peculiar, to say the least. He could’ve dug up his information and shared his claims at any time during the last several years while he was participating in prison debates.

The shock is in the revelation that a legislative leader seeking the state’s top elected office tried, at the 11th hour, to derail an important public policy debate by drumming up fear about transgender people.

Not a shocker that no one is buying what Hansen was trying to sell in his failed attempt to politicize his prison vote for campaign purposes.

At this point, he might want to peel the “Hansen for Governor” wrap off of the camper, and cancel the Pizza Ranch tour.

Because it’s clear to everyone at this point that his campaign isn’t going anywhere.

The guy loves himself and loves giving himself credit for everything: This is from his Facebook campaign page regarding North Dakota’s AG’s possible lawsuit against SD. “UPDATE: After I called out the North Dakota Attorney General, he has BACKED DOWN from his threat to sue South Dakota to strike down our hard fought landowner protections against eminent domain ABUSE at the hands of green new deal carbon sequestration companies.”

    We all know Marty Jackley handled this threat behind closed doors. Much like the Maude case where Noem and Rhoden were working quietly out of the spotlight to make things happen. But that didn’t stop Hansen from throwing on his Wrangler shirt and sticking his thumb in his pocket for a “ranchy” photo op with the Maude’s.

    I can’t wait to see what he takes credit for next.

    Location: Some high profile county Fairgrounds racetrack. Charge an entry fee and donate proceeds to a charity like Feeding South Dakota?

  6. There are many who would like to support Jon Hansen, but we recognize he doesn’t have the discipline and skill to run a statewide campaign, let alone do the job of the state’s executive officer. People have also grown tired of political grandstanding.

    1. He lost my vote as soon as Odenbach and he put Jordan, Ismay, Jensen and Manhart on the House education committee. That showed zero leadership and with a stacked board they couldn’t even get Legislation out of committee.

  7. He needs to take a stand on Pizza Ranch not having good pizza on the buffet line. Enough of the boondoggle.
