As America careens towards the second month of the Schumer Shutdown, the Washington Reporter’s sources on the Hill have been remarking about the strength of the relationship between President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R., S.D.) — which was recently put on full display when the White House invited Thune and Senate Republicans over for lunch.

He really has done an amazing job. Thank you, John. Thune’s partnership with Trump has cemented his status as the head of the Senate GOP, but it is also paying off for his constituents in South Dakota.

“Good job, but I’m still going to gut the ranchers living in your state.”
I’m just not sure I would characterize “outstanding leadership” when Thune is simply doing what he is told to do. Trump told the good Senator to not talk to the Democrats so he didn’t. Thune knew for months that he would need votes from Democrats to keep the government open and they were not going to provide those votes unless their concerns about Medicaid and ACA subsidies were addressed.
That’s what Trump considers good leadership – falling in line.

Thune is a Deep State RINO who only cares about the state when it comes to his reelections and the bogus “Farm Bill”.
He’s held up President Trumps nominations and was a big voter for wasting more of our tax dollars supporting funding to Ukraine!
Unfortunately we don’t have anyone that can run against him because of the war chest he’s built over the years with the assistance of his Mentor, Senator Mitch Lame brain McConnell.
There are only a few good types of Russians: dead ones, those fighting for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, or those actively undermining Putins regime in Russia or abroad. And the nearly complete neutering of the Russian Bear by destroying its elite armed cadre and Soviet stockpiles is priceless.

I’m sure that will make farmers happy when they have no one to buy soybeans and knowing that Trump sent BILLIONS to Argentina who then sold soybeans to China. Thune has utterly forgotten who he represents, and doing Trump’s bidding while they wreck rural America will not be forgotten.
Update: seeing on TV Sunday that Trump is meeting with Xi and will NOW talk about maybe selling then US soybeans. I had no idea that “making the US more competitive” in world markets would look like “helping fellow despots like Argentina first.” As usual Trump is late and performative for the sake of optics, after the world fully sees who has bought the influence and who hasn’t.
I am so sick and tired of people criticizing John Thune. He is as solid as you will find anywhere. He’s an intelligent, family man brought up by the finest west river family anyone could hope for. South Dakota is fortunate to have someone of such high caliber to serve us. He’s never embarrassed us and is always a professional. He’s not a fakey media seeker but is always standing up for South Dakota values. Its time for the complainers to back into their hole for the winter and let him do his extremely difficult job. Negative haters need to get out of the way, or support him. No one is interested in whiney comments anymore. If you can’t support our great Senator, you don’t support America. Just go away.
We have a duty to point out the heartless supplication and easy PR deceptions the Republican Senate leader is committing to press forward the highly entertaining train wreck which is every day of the second Trump presidency. We will NOT shut up as long as this danger is being outright ignored by the very holders of power who are tasked with bringing the people’s power to bare through Congress but instead stand by and press forth Trump’s agenda. Deal with it.
