SOS Candidate Heather Baxter plans to put bills in to demand removal of ballot counting machines.

Here’s a video that I just came across, where SD Canvassing’s sock-puppet Secretary of State candidate Heather Baxter is declaring to a crowd that her plan is to “upgrade” the system to have all ballots be counted by hand?

Apparently she makes this demand based on President Trump wanting to end the use of ballot counting machines.

If not, we’re going to need to bring forward, um.. bills and request that for the machines to be removed.”   And somehow removing machines is going to get us back to “one day voting?”

Obviously, she’s never visited Minnehaha County during election week, when they can’t even get it done in one day with the machines. (I can’t wait to see how Leah Anderson and crew will do when they need to whip out the fingers and toes.)

President Trump wanting to have his way on the end of using counting machines is apparently Baxter’s justification for removing them, despite studies showing the counting machines are more accurate and less prone to errors. And that 49 of the state’s 66 County auditors are willing to go on record and say they’re against their removal.

Not to mention that voters don’t want them removed, either.

I do hate to bring it up, but if Baxter is demanding support for the removal of ballot counting machines based on President Trump’s request, it sounds to me that Heather is kind of a “cafeteria conservative” with her support if we’re looking at the rest of his agenda.

If that’s the case, maybe Heather can explain where she is going to be on the expansion of data centers in South Dakota? Because President Trump has made huge pushes towards that initiative. I’m also surprised she’s not on the campaign trail for Senator Rounds, since Mike has already received President Trump’s endorsement. Has she gotten her checkbook out yet?

Should we ask what her opinion is on President Trump’s support for the legalization of recreational Marijuana? He’s in on that as well.

Stay tuned while we keep working on the list.

  1. LOL.

Hilarious that your definition of conservative now revolves around the mercurial whims of an orange turd blossom. Enjoy the fruits of your labors PP.

  2. Those loons along with West River Crap talk and the idiots at the we the people who are screwing up the state… They need to go away and let the adults be in charge. Hopefully, they have hit the high water mark.

  3. This SOS race is shaping up to be a total disaster. The current one running for re-election is incompetent as they come and this new one would be much worse.

Are there any rumored candidates who are better?

  4. When the fine folks at South Dakota Canvassing start to ride a horse to work, go off the grid, poop in the outhouse, burn whale oil and eat tree bark soup, maybe…just maybe that will be enough of the good old days for them and we could then consider hand counting ballots.
Or…Someone could just let them know that 1950 ain’t coming back.

  5. I wholeheartedly support All paper Ballots and to be hand counted. All we need is a well informed and dedicated electorate to participate in this very vital and critical activity to ensure an accurate and completely transparent result.
I would also advocate for Election Day to be a State if not a National Holiday.

    1. You get a point for thinking that Election Day needs to be a holiday. You lose a point for thinking that hand counting paper ballots is more accurate.

    2. And who is gonna count these ballots? It’s always the election deniers that “volunteer”. How can we trust them to not add votes for their preferred candidate? Do we audit the hand count with machines? McPherson county couldn’t get a hand count right with about 500 ballots. In fact I’ve heard some that attended that hand count speculate that the pro sd canvassing group purposely left a ballot out or miscounted on purpose to try and prove the machines were faulty. Thank goodness our auditor is one of the best and figured it out!

    3. What the other replies said, not to mention that the legislature passed a bill saying the counters can’t leave until all votes are counted – and hand counting could literally take weeks. Hand counting is nothing but unserious crazy talk.

  6. Trump wants to stop using electronic voting machines.

Trump has expressed no view on paper ballot counting machines. He also hasn’t expressed a view on how the Secretary of State determines whose name is listed first on the ballot. Finally, he hasn’t expressed any view on whether our paper ballots use ovals, circles or boxes.

    1. We use paper ballots in SD. The tabulators could get every vote wrong and we would still be able to hand count if needed. All these machines do is count. They don’t record any electronic votes.

  7. What’s funny is her main girl Leah just told the BOE that the ONLY way to solve the counting issues in minnehaha was to get more machines in the form of new precinct level tabulators. Which makes a ton of sense and made me think Leah was coming around, but then she supports Baxter for SUS so nope.

  8. I suppose we might have seventeen counties that are low enough in population, that prepping the machines is actually more work than a simple hand count.

  9. Yeah, because we have had too many “stolen elections” here in South Dakota, those seven dems are too much…..wait, if we get rid of them, will the public still buy the excuse that they cause all of our problems?
