McPherson County GOP choosing sides in Gubernatorial race?

Remember when the SDGOP came out with this directive about county parties endorsing candidates back in May?

So why then is the McPherson County GOP choosing sides in Gubernatorial race, as they promote the candidate in the Gubernatorial race currently disliked by 90% of Republicans?

Pretty sure co-hosting events with campaigns are covered by the whole “don’t endorse candidates” thing.   Someone should have a word with the McPherson Central Committee..

McPherson County Chair Michael Klipfel
McPherson County Vice-Chair Linda Schauer
McPherson County Committeeman Melvin Kallas
McPherson County Committeewoman Marian Kallas

Moving on….

(Update – Let’s not forget that this isn’t the first time that the Chairman Klipfel could be said to be abusing his position for his own personal agenda. )

  1. Looking at the people on the McPherson county executive team seems to answer your question. Single issue voters who don’t care one whit about anyone else’s issues.

  2. There are only two options: Rhoden and Johnson. If the rest of the party doesn’t get their wits about them and get behind Rhoden (a superior candidate to both Doeden and Hanson in every single way) then they’ll have 8 years of Dusty as Governor and only themselves to blame. Rhoden is by far the MOST Conservative candidate and also the most experienced. He’s been battling leftist loonies his entire career and never gave an inch. Doeden or Hanson will turn our state purple overnight.

Get it together guys, there is only one true South Dakota boy in this race and we all know who he is. We want to pass this state onto our kids someday, and we want a leader who represents what South Dakotans are– and they arent lifelong politicians, businessmen, or lawyers, they are hard working Christian ranchers like Rhoden. The people of South Dakota will make their voices heard loud and clear when Rhoden remains Governor.

    1. Leftists are not the problem in South Dakota. Ultra conservatives, like the McCrazy GOP, are the problem we face. Larry is a great guy but he flirts with the ring wing nuts a bit too much for my liking.

      1. He’s the only candidate who gets along with everybody because he was elected at a time when “working across the aisle” was a desirable trait among fellow statesman. There was honor back then- a sense of duty, a sense of responsibility, and proper decorum. Republicans and Democrats couldn’t agree but they could at least push the needle together. You are well within your rights to fear him being too far right, but I have it on good authority that he is not among the crazies. The difference between the Freedumb caucus and our Governor, is that the people in that group consult with their fellow man to guide their views towards whats popular, whereas our Governor only consults with one man, and we all know his name.

        1. There’s a few senators that might disagree with you after he stabbed them in the back on the pipeline vote. He lost most of my respect over how he handled that. I agree that the choice is between Larry and Dusty. Dusty is also well respected for reaching across aisles and building bridges. I wish Larry would distance himself from the extremists that are tearing our party apart.

    2. grudznick is glad you also got in the mail the flyer from the Rhoden Rhangers. Let us hope they can convince Governor Rhoden to run again. A majority of the Conservatives with Common Sense have been backing Mr. Rhoden for years and years.

      1. Let we all hope the future Rhoden campaign embraces the Rhoden Rhangers and their peculiar and somewhat uncouth ways. We all can use a little less refinement in our lives at times.

    3. Totally agree that Dodo and Hanson are hard nos. But, Larry isn’t great either… he is running this state right now as much as Joe Biden was running the country. Might as well put Tonys name on the ballot.

I mean… what has Rhoden (or Rhoden’s team) done anyway?

      1. The ONLY property tax relief for starters. And brought the biggest project in SD across the finish line. Like it or not, he’s worked his ass off to make it happen.

        1. funny you bring the prison up… that’s exactly what wouldn’t instill confidence in me for his leadership abilities

      2. Compare Rhoden to Biden? How desperate are you to bring him down? He was effective as a state senator and representative. He ran the show behind the scenes when Noem was running all over the country. Then he made a hard decision on eminent domain and he finished the prison legislation. He did this, mind you, with little to no fanfare. And yes, he selected a smart person to be his Lieutenant. Let’s make sure to nail him for that! You better find some better talking points.

        1. funny you bring the prison up… that’s exactly what wouldn’t instill confidence in me for his leadership abilities…

As for him compared to Biden… have you heard him speak lately or spoken to him? The man is not all there.

  3. Somebody also needs to tell Mike Mueller that calling himself a “freedom fighter” is cringe to the extreme. The guy isn’t a fighter in any sense of the word, more like an adult male incarnation of a cabbage patch doll. Throw the rest of them in there too, they all look like theyre made of milk. A bunch of old miserable political hobbyists standing in the way of the next generation of fired up conservatives ready to actually impact positive change instead of just spinning the wheel. This GOP will turn our state purple if we don’t fix this.

  4. This seems a bit different from when candidates wish to visit a county and ask the county central committee to help or host. It’s not at all unusual for candidates for statewide office to attend regular county meetings to visit with the people who attend them. The county party announces that the featured speaker will be present to address the group.
No problem there. But this seems to be way more than just a regular county meeting. There is probably a fine line between what should be allowed and what shouldn’t, and my guess is it involves money. Who is paying for this event, the campaign or the party?

  5. If you have ever talked to Mike, you know his title of chairman enters the room long before his boots do.

    1. Mike Mueller?? you mean the same guy who entered the office of a female LRC staffer, closed the door and then blocked it while his wife admonished the staffer for her parenting decisions?
Mike is the kind of guy who prompts women to carry pepper spray.

      1. Not Mueller. Klipfel. The McPherson chair. He can’t start a conversation without “the McPherson Country GOP chair.”

  6. Lee Qualm stated during the election for state chair that he would remove anyone from office if they supported-campaigned for a candidate during the primary. They should be removed from office.

  7. Rhoden cannot be trusted.

He said we can’t change rules in the middle of the stream, and then he signed the banning CO2 pipeline, changing the rules

NO vote for him from me.

    1. He is genuinely spineless. He just has been so useless that people have never noticed. Name one thing he did or led during Noem’s terms… lol.

    2. There was ” no middle of the game” other than a bunch of of out of state private company trying to strong arm South Dakotans regardless of the people’s wishes. Talk about insurrectionists. When told to leave, they refused…just kept pushing forward. Don’t be talking about the ” middle of the game” buzz phrase, which makes these greedy people ( at the expense of our government and subsidies through us taxpayers) sound like victims.

  8. Pretty sure there is another candidate running for statewide office that is actually from McPherson. Wonder if they will host an event for him as well?

    1. Unlikely. At least not voluntarily. It’s not a secret that the McPherson county gop board despises Austin Hoffman and Dusty. They wear Hansen for governor t-shirts to commission mtgs for goodness sake. Back to the executive board of McPherson, mike does what he wants and the other 3 simply aren’t very smart, so they follow him blindly. Linda Schauer just the other day at the commission mtg admonished the commission and employees for decorating the courhouse for the holidays…oh the horror! And if the courthouse wasn’t decorated for Christmas she’d scream that they are taking Christ out of “the taxpayers” building. You can’t win with these people.

  9. We are looking at goin but wanted to make sure the refreshments did not include water that has been chlorinated, only raw milk used, no seed oils and lard was used in baking. No one in the room should be vaccinated either. No data centers nearby emitting radiation or microwaves.

  10. these are the same people that they didn’t want THEIR tax dollars going to a climate scam created by Biden. Congrats, THIER tax dollars are now going to Nebraska and ND. Businesses in those states are sequestering CO2 and get the tax incentives instead of SD. Well done Chairman Klipfel. Gov Rhoden aligned himself with these folks and businesses won’t invest in SD until the climate (pun intended) changes.

    1. For years we have been told that SD is an agricultural state. That that is where the investment and growth needs to be. Now a 25000 head dairy wants to build in Edmund’s county, bringing jobs, tax revenue and a tremendous demand for feed from local farmers and ranchers. Guess what, they are opposed to that too.
