I was informed this morning that State Senator Arch Beal has taken seriously ill, has undergone surgery, and is currently in the hospital.
Please keep Arch and his entire family in your prayers for his speedy recovery, and joining other senators in Pierre where they start convening next week.
(We need him back to poke questionable lobbyists when it’s appropriate.)

I remember his son was one of my students when I was a Grad Assistant at SDSU many years ago. I’ll keep all of them in my prayers.
Regardless of where one may land politically, there is little room for debate when it comes to the character of Senator Beal. He is, without question, one of the kindest and most genuine souls in Pierre. He is unwaveringly true to who he is, guided by a quiet integrity that doesn’t shift with circumstance or convenience. In every interaction—no matter the person, position, or perspective—he treats others with genuine respect and decency. In a world that often rewards volume over virtue, Senator Beal leads with humility, grace, and authenticity. Public service is better because of people like him, and quite simply, they don’t make them like Senator Beal anymore.
Lord, we ask You to place Your healing hand over Arch. Give wisdom and clarity to his doctors, strength to his body, and patience during recovery.
Bring peace and comfort to his wife, family, and loved ones in this uncertain moment. Surround them with encouragement and hope.
We are grateful for every life dedicated to public service, and we ask that You sustain Arch with grace, resilience, and rest.
Amen.
