Well, there’s a first. Mike Zitterich actually managed to turn in a petition to run for office, unlike his previous attempts:
In a statement sent to the Argus Leader, Zitterich said that he wants to “infuse into my platform the America-First concept, by establishing a Sioux Falls First Agenda, of promoting strong ethical, and christian principles back in government,” adding that he’s interested in creating a “Government Financial Transparency” office to examine city spending.
And…
His press release points to a website with several articles authored by Zitterich, including one in which he claimed that “Great Britain has remained in full control of the United States” despite the outcome of the American Revolution.

At least that’s not as bad as the last time Mike Zitterich was on our radar, as he explained why it’s ok for 16 year old girls to be married off to 45 year old men:

Oil – Bankruptcies are beginning just like what happened during his first term. OPEC is pushing supply up to drive prices down while domestic production tightens up. Once domestic production is shut down and they begin closing, they will flip the switch and soak us with high prices. I have 9 wells and i know oil.
Bribes: Trump’s meme coin has added billions to his wealth along with roughly 58 other people while 800k people lost their shorts. He is inviting those largest gainers to visit the white house. Numerous foreign projects within his family have used his coin. This is nothing more than a pay to play scheme but using the position to enrich his family is just SOP for Trump.

Signature to a petition doesn’t necessarily connote support of a candidate or an initiated measure. In its simplest form, a petition signature simply means, “let’s put this issue/person on the ballot so the people can decide”.

Wow! I guess I misled my Government and US History students all those years as I taught them the colonists side won the Revolutionary War and then emphasized it again in fighting the War of 1812. I thought I paid attention in school!
It should be noted, he submitted a statement of organization. Anyone can do that. Its just signaling his intent to run, and by doing so he can raise money and potentially campaign. However, no candidate is on the ballot until they get their nominating petitions submitted with enough signatures. That won’t be until sometime next year (spring or fall depending on when the Council decides to set the election date). The window is about a month, and won’t open until next year. Anyone can submit a statement of organization. Getting signatures and getting on the ballot is another matter.
Ah.. the story was not specific on that. So, in all likelihood this effort could completely implode before petitions are turned in.
If Manifesto Mikey Z rambles on like he posts with his manifestos it is no wonder he was able to get petition signers to get on the ballot. The signers were like I don’t have time for this! Ok! Where do I sign so I can get the hell out of here and away from this guy!
We get plenty of good candidates for city positions in Sioux Falls.
I’m not sure what your point is in posting this statement by a chronic nutcase. When the election rolls around, voters will have good candidates to consider.
