I’m not sure what the difference is between he or Jamie Smith or Joe Batcheller, but they all seem rather cookie cutter.
I don’t think Smith being a Realtor at Hegg versus Selburg being a realtor over at Keller Williams is going to move voters one way or another. And you never know, there might be another white male middle-aged real estate agent who jumps into the race, further splitting that block of voters.

Huh. Considering he broke the law — he moved out of district but didn’t tell anyone and continued to vote on the council as a representative of his old district — that really doesn’t inspire confidence in him as a leader of the city.

I don’t want to see a DEI candidate jump in just so we have something unique to vote for. Just because Marshall is a middle aged white male who happens to be a realtor I wouldn’t count him out. He’s very connected, very personable, is a former two-term city councilor, and could have a good vision for leading Sioux Falls. People in Sioux Falls know him. This race is Erickson’s to lose, but Marshall shouldn’t be casted aside as just any Joe-shmo jumping into the race. The real test is if he can raise money, reach people, and make a splash on his vision.
He disregarded the law without a second thought. Sioux Falls voters deserve better.

If nothing else his voting record while on City Council proved this. He represented his “connections” extremely well; ordinary citizens if Sioux Falls … not so much.
There are others on the council, grudznick is told, who may jump into this race. Ladies and gentlemen, both. Maybe a few in the legislatures, also.
This is such a dumb candidacy.
If Jamison hops in then we have 3 realtors running for mayor. Oh joy.

Ya, Marshall that residence thingy got covered up as you served out your term on City Council, but it is gonna’ be one of those skeltons in your closet, bones a chattering for this race.
It’s tough to credibly argue that Joe Batcheller, as a first time candidate and registered Independent, is anything resembling a cooke cutter candidate. Particularly when the other partisan candidates are all folks who have bounced back and forth between various elected offices. In that respect he’s the only fresh face running.
