The GOP Confederate group is having another secret SDGOP Chair forum tonight where they are purposefully excluding any state elected officials, legislators, county elected officials, etcetera, because.. well… because.
The forum will feature the currently announced candidates Ezra Hayes from Amendment H, Jim Eschenbaum who was Hand County GOP Chair for a couple of months, and “honest” Lee Qualm who lost his last two races, when he wasn’t busy being sued by family members.
Was that my outside voice? Sorry.
While they don’t mention it in their super-secret e-mail, Ezra Hays has left it to the Central Committee for whomever his VC will be. Eschenbaum supposedly has Janet Jensen as his running mate, and Qualm’s is Marli Wiese.
If you had any curiosity, I would tell you they don’t want you to know about how to log into to their secret zoom meeting with the following codes..

If you’re the nosy type, I’d log in with just your phone. Tougher to tell if you’re not a part of the secret club. I would also venture there’s going to be some worthy soundbites, given the last one of these.
As the Republican Party continues to fall behind Democrats in fundraising and basic donor interest, and the confederate county GOP groups who are putting this meeting on have completely stopped contributing to the state GOP as bylaws require, they do offer in this secret e-mail they want to quiz the candidates about important items such as “Your leadership philosophy” and “The first three significant items/issues (not administrative) on which you will focus.”
However, at the bottom of the e-mail in a second list of possible questions, they do allude to the elephant in the room, as item #9 on a list of 10 more suggested questions asks “What are your fund-raising plans? How will the Party budget be spent? Who decides how the money will be spent?” As in we didn’t contribute anything during the past two years, but we want to know how you’re going to raise money, and are we going to get to tell you how to spend the money we didn’t help you raise?
Oh my. It’s going to be a long two years.
The good news is none of them could possibly be a worse fundraiser than Chairman Wiik has been
The confederate goofballs are the reason the party could not raise any money. Kind of hard to go out with your hat in hand asking for donations to the cause, when the response is “I don’t want any of it to go to those lunatics.”
No, actually, it’s not. But we wouldn’t know, because Wiik hasn’t tried to put his hat in his hand and ask ever. TARS camp went down on his watch, there were no party pheasant hunts, no fundraisers otherwise… he did nothing to organize ballot initiative opposition. He is awful, and it’s not because the “crazies”
These self-righteous, self-adoring tyrants of the far right will surely turn this state blue.
“The less talent they have, the more pride, vanity and arrogance they have All these fools, however, find other fools who applaud them.” Credit: Erasmus
Ed it is doubtful they will turn the state blue. Look at this past primary and general election in South Dakota. The absolute extreme fringe has been normalized in South Dakota while most likely the vast majority of voters have been asleep at the wheel. They automatically voted “R” or did not vote at all.
As one retired public school educator who is a fiscal conservative and school board member observed there are some districts where the Dems could put up a solid candidate that works their tail off and voters would vote for a NASA Astro Chimp that has an “R” behind his or her name before they would vote for a Dem.
The quality of legislators has tanked so bad that it could be argued especially this session that a NASA Astro Chimp is more intelligent than a number of these wackadoodles and a lot more likeable.
I don’t think they’ll turn the state blue by itself, but it will start swinging the pendulum back.
If Dems have a good candidate for Gov, Republicans could be in trouble, because the candidate will have to convince middle of the road Republicans (the majority of the GOP) – business oriented traditional Republicans – who are the ones who have been completely turned off by the goofballs.
Eschenbaum’s choice of Janet Jensen as a running mate should be an instant disqualifier, for both of them. Why would he bring her on board? She shouldn’t even be allowed to attend Central Committee Meetings; she [allegedly – pp] covertly records meetings and leaks confidential information.
Lee Qualm is awful. How Marli Weise has anything to do with him is curious.
Ezra Hayes is the only team player but I don’t think he has any idea what he’s signing up for.

Does anybody think Rep Mulally was talking about some other Janet here? Janet can’t be trusted.
Yep, I’m done. We did what we could do to save the party but the RINOs finally took over. The SD Republican voting body is among the best in the nation. The idiots trying to jump into leadership are the worst. Hopefully after their next 2 years of irrelevance the grownups are back in charge… but then again Taffy Howard and Phil Jensen are still legislators so, we may be screwed.
