After taking over, “Jim Eschenbaum’s new establishment SDGOP” can’t seem to get their act together, and goes a month at a time with only the treasurer making a donation. Let’s not even get into their big “golf event.” I couldn’t help but notice that even one of his former constituent groups, the hopelessly goofy election truthers seem to have abandoned him, with at least one declaring they will cease to support the Eschenbaum party as evidenced by this recent facebook post:
Backstabbing, betrayal, gossip, duplicity, cliques, chaos and division all seem to be what’s taken over the SD GOP.
and..
I’ll be here waiting in hopes that some day the SD GOP and the republican party in general will get back their identity, their courage, and putting the people first as I’ve always fought for.
Why do I bring up this ever-expanding divide in the Republican Party? Because despite an overwhelming advantage in party registration, Republicans in South Dakota seem to have exchanged their fortunes with State Democrats when it comes to the enthusiasm factor:
As the SDGOP boasts this on social media for their latest fundraising event debacle..
Democrats are able to draw this kind of crowd for their fundraising event..
As a Republican, if this doesn’t get your attention, it should. Is there any Republican able to recall the last time we were able to put these kind of numbers together for a GOP dinner? It has been a long, long time.
Not counting John Wiik’s GOP Trump event in Rapid City, I think you’d have to go back a decade or more to see anything bordering 1000 dinner attendees. I think the last time I saw something even close to this was at the Minnehaha GOP Dinner when it was on top of the Kermit Staggers v Mike Huether for Sioux Falls Mayor race.
Not good as we go into the most important election year in literally a generation.
I noticed that the SDGOP deleted any remnants of this sad excuse for a golf donation day from all their social media. Is the embarrassment we’ve all been squirming under finally hitting the new idiots in charge?
2009 was the last time the GOP held a state dinner. I dont recall any others since. That was also with a Minnesota governor.
Over the last 15 years, the GOP has won largely because of a national climate that’s made democrats very unacceptable to SD voters.
Its had very little to do with the SD GOP being amazing or good.
When the GOP will be needed is if we have a close election.
It will tear the party apart if we see a close race for governor in the general and half the local parties refuse to volunteer for the nominee.
Very encouraging as we head toward an important election year. Maybe Republicans will work with Dems to get their souls back.
Doubtful.
In years past, Republicans have taken for granted that our candidates would win in the general by virtue of the “R” behind their names. Not anymore. When voting in the primary and at convention, we have to think about which candidate can win in November. If candidates can’t win in November, then it’s a mistake to vote for them in June no matter how much we like them.
You mean, the crazy ones?
I have a feeling the dems are working hard to recruit candidates in every district. I believe the people will want anybody over the likes of Manhart, Schaefbauer, Jordon, Gosch, Jensen……etc. Sad future for the SDGOP.
Eschenbaum is going to ride that horse right into the grave.
You forgot Toby
It’s never as easy as just fielding better candidates. In this state a Doeden, Manhart, Jensen, Gosch, have and hold and build on their districts’ built-in advantages, no matter what. I’d point to the perennial Tim Goodwin JFM battle for legislature. Tim’s not a Democrat, he’s a smart professional long-time Republican conservative, and presented as such time and again in contrast to the tantrum-filled nutjobiness of JFM. And he can’t get the job done for whatever reason. Democrats and even old-guard GOP are going to have to do more than have a thousand-person event now and then before a Doeden, JFM, Manhart or Jensen is going to start to worry about competition in this state.
Don’t forget Sioux Falls resident Al Novstrup and the political titan Assistant Senate Majority Leader (Did I get that right?) Carl Perry.
That’s “Hot” Carl Perry to you.
Until the dems change their national party and until the races are no longer nationalized it won’t matter. The dems have been irrelevant for 15 years and 8 straight election cycles.
The Democratic fellows are out there busting chops and wringing mops and getting a lot more juice than the ruined GOP is doing. This bodes ill for most of the conservative fellows.
Many South Dakota Republicans would probably feel more at home at a Democratic event like this than hang with the crazy SD GOP group.
Throw in an open bar and they would’ve been willing to listen to Tim Walz.
Need to get groups of Republicans that can help oust the crazies in the primaries so we don’t have another 2 years of crappy bills and killing of economic development .
This is very much in the works.
Bring back the sane Rs and get rid of the wack jobs.
Looks like Logan Manhart is promoting himself again. Craving attention.
It’s White Boy Summer – Logan Manhart.

A post from this new website.
Look, I don’t have time for “facts” or “aviation law” when our airspace might be under siege from the deep state’s sky-spraying division. And if my campaign finance disclosures are harder to track than a weather balloon over Rapid City? That’s just me keeping my flight path unpredictable.
In conclusion:
✔️ Chemtrails? Probably.
✔️ Planes in the sky? Suspicious.
✔️ Military response? Sounds fun.
✔️ Accountability? Overrated.
If Jamie Smith can win the Sioux Falls mayoral race then the Dems will have a platform. I still say its a long shot against a good republican recruit.
Looking like Christine Erickson is going to be that recruit, so that will make Smith’s long shot even longer.
What makes her “good” vs just a Kristi Noem wannabe who will just spout bidnaz and jeebus nonsense?
She’s just what the mediocres crave though so it’s going to be tough.
