August 2026 SDGOP FEC Report by Pat Powers
Just like Yogi Berra quipped, It’s just like deja vu all over again.
Here we are and all the SDGOP managed to do in the last month is to raise $20 in their Federal account. By the numbers:
$20 raised. $3.75 in interest $710.69 robbed from the State Account.
They started with $29,706.91, and they ended with less. $29,525.21.
Where are all the people who wanted to be in charge? I would have thought they would be enriching the party’s coffers to overwhelming levels to defeat all comers?
Instead, they leave South Dakota Republicans with pronouncements of their superiority through ai slop posts on facebook and malaise.

Pat… You are a master of words! “AI Slop Post” will be a new mainstay of my vocabulary. The GOP has traded critical thinking and solution leadership for feigned righteousness and fear mongering. Not the party I worked hard for in the ’70’s or mid ’90’s when David Volk was the highest level GOP official or Mike Rounds was MINORITY Senate leader.
I have heard that the SDGOP is not doing a push to get out the vote, and they’re not donating to candidates. So why should anyone support them? They are neglecting their entire reason to exist!
Those things require efforts and many of their chosen candidates lost the primary.
You should ask Katie Hoffman from Black Sheep Republican, she is probably the biggest shill for the establishment now. Unfortunately, no one will take it up as this isn’t “The Republican Party”;unless you ask Casey Crabtree and slip some money to his PAC, not sure that guy has ever turned down PAC money. It’s a bunch of high spending Democrats that have to run as Republicans to get elected and this is where we sit. Our state has been purple for quite a while, the masses are only starting to wake up. Keep backing AI Data Centers, Flock Cameras, the Governors handout slush fund, County Tax (blueprint from Minnesota), etc…..RIP
Once again: the GOP controls every level and facet of government across the state and some goober is still trying to blame it on democrats. Sad to see how far the party of personal responsibility is falling.
Why would anyone donate to a party that has Heathe Baxter (as an example) as a candidate for SOS who was selected by a small group of right-wing extremist nut cases at a sham convention. Move all the office selections to the primary ballot so the people can vote on it and you will see more money coming to the state office.
Agreed. Rip off the bandaid. Move them all to a primary. The only way to do that is through a constitutional amendment, though. It’ll take an organized, well-funded group to get it done.
This is true, Baxter ran for legislature and her own district, neighbors and such, did not vote for her and so the crazies load up the precinct members and vote her for SOS.
My ballot will be the purplest it’s ever been this cycle.
I have a feeling people will soon be seeing a significant number of Republicans come out in support of the Democrat running for SOS. Simply having an R beside your name should not get you into an office that you are more interested in pushing conspiracy theories rather than facts.
