Brian Bengs claims to be tied with Mike Rounds?

After no advertising to speak of in the US Senate Race, Brian Bengs is now claiming to be tied with Mike Rounds?

As if! And monkeys just might fly outta’ my butt!

Indy/Democrat/Republican/whatever party he wants to be today Brian Bengs is on facebook now claiming to be magically tied with Mike Rounds in a recent poll from a firm affiliated with Democrats (so much for not being a democrat).  And absolutely no one is buying that. Even your crazy aunt who believes everything else she reads on facebook is looking at that boast and rolling her eyes.

The same Bengs poll says John Thune and Mike Rounds are underwater. Despite the fact that just this past May, Emerson found Thune with 70% GOP approval, Rounds at 73% and Rhoden at 76%. Those are huge numbers for our incumbents.  Let’s also keep in mind that Democrats have been caught with questionable polls to drum up propaganda and drive donations. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/6042644-median-strategies-fake-polls-trust/.

The most accurate sources lately are the prediction markets, and in the story from a couple of days ago they say the odds on Senator Mike Rounds is at 93% likely to win.

You can click on the story which accompanies this graphic at Oddsshopper titled:  Why Mike Rounds (R) Will Win the South Dakota Senate Race. (not beating around the bush, are they?)

Based on the likability of Bengs, 93% could be Mike’s vote margin on election day!

  1. Pat, you write so much about Bengs, it makes me think that Rounds is scared. Usually, The Big Three just ignore their general election competition. Maybe not a majority of South Dakotans yet, but people are getting fed up with MAGA and MAGA-lite politicians.

    1. I agree. It’s so odd, how much time is spent on Bengs. I expect Rounds to be re-elected by an overwhelming amount – although I don’t want that outcome, it seems like what will happen. I must be missing something about how Rounds is worried.

  2. The Rubber Stamp for Trump Caucus, including our three highly compliant MOC’s, is wearing out its welcome in the midst of the latest never-ending war, never-ending trade and culture wars, inflation and high prices for EVERYTHING, the most corrupt regime in US history, the endless array of self-obsessed vanity projects, etc etc etc.

Rounds has plenty of reasons to be concerned.

  3. You might want to tell Senator Rounds that it isn’t a competitive race because HE is the one that keeps claiming that it’s exactly that.

    1. “And we need it, because this is no longer a safe seat. The only way to beat him (Bengs) is a campaign that stays on the air, stays on the ground, and never lets up.” Mike Rounds

  4. Did Senator Rounds just introduce a Senate bill to close down and eliminate the federal government’s Department of Education?
Maybe he could just close down Secretary. McMahon first, and let the benefits of that accrue for awhile. The Department could recover then.

  5. We used to have a separate but equal branch of government to act as a check and balance especially with this “Operation Epsteen Fury” endless war started initially to distract from demands to have certain files released. Mike Rounds has been a circus flea for Donald Trump. Time for change! Time to hold this circus clown in the oval office in check and get rid of the circus fleas. Vote Brian Bengs!

  6. Ryan Bings also put out a graphic saying he was up by 3 when he got smoked by Thune. The guy is an idiot

  7. Some of these comments are pure fantasy mixed with a feeling of left behind in life. Angry and wants to share.

Rounds will win big, and you all know it. Like it or not, that is how things are. SD has been electing Rounds for a quarter century.

    1. Are they both liars? Maybe… but I don’t think we should be berating Bengs for agreeing with Rounds that “this is no longer a safe seat”.

  8. Those ratings from GOP voters for GOP office holders are a bit low. Presumably Independent and Democrat ratings are low; not as low as President Trump’s ratings with Indy’s and Dems, but low none the less. I don’t think Bengs will win, not at all, but Insuspect it will be far closer than it should be, which perhaps will loosen Sen. Round’s tounge, and perhaps not be such a doormat for Trump’s ridiculous tariff policies.

  9. grudznick’s close personal friend Lar has been cajoling me and others to send money to Mr. Bengs with New Mexican hospitalities. There are a few fellows enthusiastic about being more libertarian, without being Libertarian. grudznick is on the hose.
