D4: Close call in the Senate, and complete roll over in the House

D4 was a bit odd to monitor this last night, as those house races went back and forth. And you could tell geography played a big factor in who won, as some counties went strong for their favored sons. But when it was all said and done, Ryan Kohl from Milbank was the victor followed closely by Fred Deutsch.

Kent Roe was in the hunt all night, but his advocacy for data centers might have caused him some headaches and shaved a few badly needed votes away.

Dylan Jordan should have never been there in the first place, and except for his home area of Deuel county, nobody wanted to bring back the legislator who signed pledges to have planes shot down.

Let that be an example to the new class coming into Pierre.  Stupid things win you stupid prizes.

  1. Don’t count DJ out yet. Over 41,000 South Dakotans voted for a governor candidate who gave him an all-in, loud and proud endorsement for his legislative race. We all need to be very afraid of what that candidate can and will do with cabinet selections, and everything else, if elected.

    1. Can you imagine the cabinet Doeden would assemble? I shudder to think. DJ as Secy of Ed. Garcia running Health. Taffy as Revenue chief. Ismay manning the fort at DANR. Nightmare fuel.

      1. What position would Doedite ShadGPT be appointed to? South Dakota Department of Propaganda?

Manhart (White Boy Summer)? Errand white boy for the governor Doeden?

  2. While I’m ecstatic that DJ Jazzy Jordan met the defeat he sorely deserved, I’m disappointed in the number of people who voted for him and in our district failing to return Kent Roe to Pierre. Once again, single issue voting proved its idiocy (this time was data centers).

  3. Kent Roe was/is a very good legislator who carried the data center torch and got burned. Shame on District 4 voters for even considering voting for DJ Jazzy Jordan, you all threw your vote away for no good reason.

  4. OK. So we’re all glad that Jordan is out. Begalka as a senator? no comment. Sorry Kent got beat as he is a sane and honest legislator. Another session with crazy Freddie. Good luck to all who will be in Pierre.

  5. Congrats to Steph who had close to $150,000 used to get her elected from her own campaign and pac’s pushing out support and mailers for her. Compared to Tim’s 5,000 and not really campaigning. Gotta be kinda embarrassing for her to win so narrowly with such a high budget.
