Good catch by one of the readers. Former State Representative, and current South Dakota Americans for Prosperity guru Don Haggar has filed a campaign committee to run for the Public Utilities Commission:
Don Haggar sdcfdisclosure by Pat Powers
Interestingly, as State Representative, Don was one of the sponsors of 2013’s HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.1006, a measure to petition “the President of the United States and the Department of State to authorize the Keystone XL Pipeline.”
Will pipelines come up as part of the next campaign for Public Utilities Commission? (well, of course it will, silly).
There will be more to come on this, I’m sure.

I’ll pass on voting for Don. We have too many oldies in office and clinging to elected office as it is.
Yes. Every member of the PUC is a professional politician at this point. They can all go.
I agree, and would you agree that Phil and Taffy should go? Taffy Howard and Phil Jensen are a perfect example to what happens when a person stays “too long at the party.” They stumble around, cause fractures, and speak way too loud.
Howard served six years in the SD House (2017–2023) before stepping down to run for Congress and has screeched into any microphone that is put in front of her term-limits are necessary. She warning that “serving in Congress has become…a lucrative lifelong job rather than a public service.” You should know Taffy.
Ineffective Phil Jensen, has been creeping around Pierre since 2009 — rocking the SD House, then the Senate, now back in the House. That is 16 years! I wish that I could write that he has done something, well he has collected a paycheck.
I disagree with your comments about Taffy and think Don Haggar would be a good PUC commissioner as would Jim Mehlhaff.
My comments on Taffy are factual. Which part? The years she served or quote?
You are part of the problem…. blind alligence.
Agreed. Amanda Radke will be great for this spot, very inspiring. Pro family. Pro beef.
You left out that she’s Pro Amanda.
ME ME PAY ATTENTION TO ME AMANDA? She would be automatically disqualified from any decision because of her public statements. Why would we elect someone who would be legally barred from doing the job.
She’d just be a toadstool collecting a paycheck for doing nothing.
No to Amanda Radke. We would like to thank her for inspiring our family to try plant based meat alternatives. Vert tasty, healthier and we save money! We now are on a 99% plant based diet and South Dakota farmers benefit.
🤣🤣🤣 you have got to be kidding!!
There is nothing about Amanda the Radical that says she would be good for the job. She is one of the most self serving people out there. She claims to be all about Agriculture while kicking farmers in the teeth…if it works for her, it wont work for anyone else…
Why isn’t crabtree running for puc?
