Don’t know if I will get back to posting today, as I have a work conference. But – if you are anywhere near Sioux Falls – make sure you have it on your schedule for tomorrow to attend the big Christine Erickson political announcement!

It should be huge!

So she’s running for mayor.
Is she going to be different than TenPlaidsuits?
No action on homeless, convention center is life and an understaffed police department?
What makes her good or bad?
Actually, I think TenHaken has been a great mayor. You’re not wrong on the homeless, however. It’s getting out of hand.
Erickson for mayor seems very light to me compared to TenHaken and even Huether.
Can we get a business leader to run in this race?
Find a name – none that have popped up in this conversation stand out compared to Christine
Jen Siggy. She should run. Better comps on the city council.
Small businesswoman, CEO of a major statewide industry group, former city council, former legislator. Don’t hate on her because you don’t like her gender.
Never about gender. But she shouldn’t avoid criticism because she is a woman either. I just was hoping for a stronger leader. And to be honest, getting elected to a variety of offices does not make one a leader. In fact, there’s a lot of followers in the Legislature. Pretty easy to get elected in a lot of places.
I will say that Erickson is a better option than Jameson. But only slightly.
Exactly.
She just seems bland.
And what from all that did she actually do?
When I interview candidates I go through their resume and find out what they actually did.
This is just a list of job titles.
What did she accomplish?
How much more business influence do you want in Sioux Falls, they completely own the city council and Mayor? Compared to Rapid City, SF is still throwing out TIF funding to developers while not focusing on improving the aging side of the city or doing much to combat the homelessness issue (unless you count fencing off places they congregate). I think Sioux Falls could take some direction from RC, TIF’s should be used to benefit all in the city, not just the developers that don’t need them anyway. A pragmatic approach to address homelessness is needed (One Heart Campus). They have these focuses in RC and can still be MAGA, SF could learn something from RC.
I’m curious as to what makes him a great mayor?
TenPlaidsuits bailed out Sanford buying the Westside Wellness Center for $9 million.
Now we need to cut everything else… By almost that amount.
Just another in a stream of unwise spending.
Also a full water park planned for Kuehn park. Why? The current pool is deserted.
Yet the police force is chronicly short staffed with entire cohorts of police academy recruits washing out.
Homeless problem is worse than ever and migrating out of downtown throughout the city.
Again, what did he do besides spend money on outdoor exercise play equipment that is already broken?
Doing calisthenics with grade school kids?
Christine Erickson, Michelle Erpenbach, Rick Kiley, Greg Nietzert, Rex Rolfing, Marshall Selberg.
The roll call of those who, as members of the Sioux Falls City Council, approved the $21 million bunker parking ramp financial fiasco in downtown Sioux Falls.
Don’t forget Huether backing it and Ketchum essentially working both sides of the transaction.
