Ezra Hays is back this afternoon campaigning to run for State GOP Chair:
Today, GOP Chair wannabe Ezra Hays is again text blasting message recipients that he’s going to be following up with them to discuss “his plan to strengthen” the Republican party.
What can we anticipate his master plan is going to be? We might have some idea as he explained his vision of the Republican Party in September to Former US Senate hopeful Mark Mowry:
“In South Dakota the Republican Party is not strong enough to rein in politicians when it is needed, thats why I feel that we need a stronger party, to be able exact our values when needed.”
Basically, he wants to demand that candidates follow what he says blindly, or his version of the Republican party will “rein them in.” At the same time Chris Larson has issued his party purge list, his buddy Ezra Hayes joins him in wanting to be the GOP’s thought police as it’s new chair.
Telling candidates what they’re allowed to think, and purging the Republican Party of the rest?
Why does this not sound like the Republican party we’re used to? Or even the America?
Ezra doesn’t have a chance of getting elected.
Who’s going to beat him?
Are you kidding? Have you not been paying attention?? I would have never thought odenbach could possibly be elected to leadership. And yet, here we are. The party we knew is dead. Murdered by extremists. Moderation, conversation and compromise has no place in it. No other viewpoints will be considered. You will not be able to get “right” enough for this group. This will take YEARS to swing back.
Hate to break it to you, but it won’t swing back. You all spent decades building an echo chamber that nurtured this idiocy and it’s become a runaway snowball at this point.
Moderates will barely have the drive or the stomach to do what is necessary to retake the party, and they definitely won’t sustain their efforts long enough to quash extremism when it counter-punches.
Their options are to flounder as their party lurches further and further to the right (whether they try to mount a challenge or just throw in the towel), attempt to create a “centrist” party, or flip to the other side of the aisle. My money is on option one, because they’ve gotten nothing but 40 years of “democrats are evil” and “centrism” is doomed to fail in a two-party system in our current electoral and media environment.
Thank a Schoenbeck for the leadership tsunami when you see one.
Hundreds of thousands of donor dollars and dozens of talented legislarors tossed out or to the curb because he targeted way too many legislators.
the two party system is dead. legislative bodies are poised to dismantle the nation they have helped to build over the past many decades. this will likely outpace the winnowing done by the friedman supply-siders in reagan’s first term, or the gingrich house in 1995.
Someone normal better step up then. I don’t know Ezra (is he that far right like in the tiny group that think they’re big?), I’ve heard AWFUL things about Shawn Torneau and if Chris Larson is contemplating running; then someone normal better step up.
Chris Larson would be interesting.
Interesting as in watching a car accident in slow motion.
That tiny group IS now big. Pay attention. They’ve patiently places themselves in position to keep the “normies” out. Much like how Muslims slowly integrate into local governments. They may be the minority but they wield the power in many governments. This radical right takeover is straight from their playbook
LOL.
You act like you’re somehow a “normie,” yet you spout the same nonsense as the whack-jobs. They’ve taken over the party, and you’ve drank enough of the kool-aid you don’t realize how far you’ve been sucked into their bs.
Yeah sorry but it’s not nonsense. It’s just fact that’s how it happens. Slow grassroots movements that see “minority” voices gain political power while everyone ignores them. Eventually they have enough political sway that even though they are still the minority they can control policy in their favor. This isn’t drinking any koolaid or even disparaging a group. It’s just a fact. I’ve seen it everywhere I’ve been in the world.
Can Ryan Brunner run the party and work in the Gov’s office?
I’d be careful about anyone that has ties to Tom Brunner. Manipulative snake.
Brunner has always been a radical just like cousin Tom Brunner. He’d move the party even further to the right but he’d be smart about it and the establishment wouldn’t know what hit them until it was too late.
The people who want power in the partty now aren’t effective. They are just a bunch of kids with noise makers.
Brunner would be an excellent chair.
The Teenage Republicans were a thriving, active organization under Dusty. Now Ryan Brunner is in charge. Considering that the Teenage Republicans imploded under his watch, I doubt people would be excited to give Ryan Brunner the keys to the SDGOP.
Avian Influenza (H5N1) has arrived in North America; it’s time for a vaccination requirement for anybody who wants to attend a central committee meeting.
And proof of vaccination should be required of anyone who enters the Capitol, especially. There’s goose poop all over the parking lot.
Mandatory vaccinations are the only way to restore sanity.
