Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Dolly Parton
PIERRE, S.D. – Today, Governor Larry Rhoden ordered that flags be flown at half-staff statewide effective immediately until sunset on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as a mark of respect for the memory of Dolly Parton.
This announcement is consistent with President Trump’s order, which can be found here.

I just googled the information: Both Trump and Biden offered her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and she declined it because it would appear political.
She deserved it. It won’t hurt anybody to fly the flag at half-staff.

1) Tributes to Dolly are rolling in from everywhere, including Buckingham Palace, showing her scope of influence across the globe.
2) This is based on the President’s order. It makes sense that the Governor of a ruby red state would follow his lead. Criticism of this action must be coming from angry liberals.
