From the Lemmon Newspaper: Rep’s Travis Ismay and Jana Hunt have no idea what they are doing.

I just had a reader send me this LTE from the Lemmon, SD newspaper, where a contributor pointed out that State Representatives Travis Ismay and Jana Hunt are not just dumb.. but they are really, really dumb.

Travis Ismay talks about “it would be best” if they cut off schools completely from state aid to education?  Jana Hunt claims that “a little old lady says that a TIF was taking her house?”

Well, this is what District 28 voted for.

I especially like the newspaper editor pointing out they were not provided any notice of the meeting. I’m guessing because legislators don’t want voters to know that they didn’t vote the best and brightest in the last election.

In fact, they got as far from it as possible.

  1. These idiots don’t know what they don’t know. Our education system has apparently failed us in their hometowns.

      1. Hunt is a graduate of Sunshine Bible Academy. Both have very limited life experiences and what may be worse a very limited capacity to learn.

        1. …As is our chairwarmer interim Governor. Their parents were willing to send them 200 miles+ from home to keep their pure Christian minds from being polluted at the evil “worldly” public schools in Ziebach and Meade County, respectively.

  2. There’s a lot of stupid in the legislature lately. Starting with the leadership. Karr, Hansen, Odenbach they got put in their position by these knuckleheads. And they all got put in place by a bunch of cool aid drinking morons around the state. It’s embarrassing.

  3. You’ve exposed the true divide in the current SD Republican party. What Governor Rhoden calls the “Anti-Business Faction” of the SDGOP is actually just the dumb faction. They clump together because they’re literally incapable of thinking for themselves.

What’s the main thing that makes them dumb? They listen to FOX News for National Issues, then turn around and try to solve it at a state level, in a state that doesn’t even have the problem to begin with.

Remember when Biden stole the election? But all our votes went to Trump? So we started pushing for hand-counted ballots in a state where our votes actually went to the “right” guy? How much sense does that make?

Dylan Jordan wants SD Natl Guard to shoot airplanes out of the sky because of chemtrails?

Phil Jensen wants to defund a school across the state because one of their staff hurt his feelings?

Taffy Howard wants to dismantle TIFs for the entire state and every rural community because she has a petty grudge with one of the boardmembers?

Brandei Schaefbauer wants to make the COVID vaccine illegal and make ivermectin an over-the-counter drug? This one is case and point, to a T:

She doesn’t even realize WHY she supports this so I’ll tell her now: Joe Rogan on a podcast said his doctor prescribed him ivermectin when he had COVID. He didnt say others should do it, neither did the doctors, it was specific to Joe’s health, nobody else’s. The leftist propaganda machine put him through the ringer simply because people wanted to copy Rogan and they didn’t want that, because it’s a horse dewormer and doesn’t cure COVID at all. The right took notice of this and rallied to Rogan’s side, and it became another POPULAR NATIONAL ISSUE. So Brandei, being of low IQ and not hip on popular media, gets ahold of it, and much like a Karen, tries to make ivermectin over the counter and outlaw the COVID vaccine entirely, BECAUSE SHE THINKS IT WILL LOOK GOOD WITH REPUBLICANS.

That is what we’re dealing with and I could go on and on about every single one of the dumb people in Pierre. They almost outnumber us at this point. They utilize dirty tactics to get control over county parties, precinct delegation, and now finally these same Obama-voting RINOs control the Exec Board.

There is ONE other clear indicator of this divide, and thats the people who grew up here vs the people who moved here. John Carley can’t get elected in California, but he can get a nonsense job that pays $150,000 a year and just spend that money on getting elected then snowbirding back out to his place in California. These new movers are rapidly destroying our political structure, and they’re doing it with the utmost pride in their ignorance.

  4. So a person who has never paid property taxes in her whole life, doesn’t understand them and can’t explain how they work? I’m shocked. Someone should probably ask why she was seated on the property tax task force. Needed the per diems?

  5. When the governing supermajority party gerrymanders the heck out of South Dakota and stacks the deck in their favor what would you expect? We end up with poorly qualified and extreme elected officials. With a healthy competitive environment many of these elected officials would never be endorsed in states that caucus and would place at the bottom in a primary. General election they would be easily defeated. Instead of a political environment where the cream of the crop rises we end up in a race to the bottom. Many of our cities, counties and regions are paying a heavy price as a result within South Dakota.

    1. what gerrymandering? I live in Moody County and there’s no gerrymandered map here, the entire county, every square mile of it, got thrown into District 25 so we are now represented by Tom Pischke and Jon Hansen. It looks very near and tidy on a map and it stinks

    2. Problem is no sane normal person wants to sign up for the punishment of public office. This freedumb group is vile, you express one different opinion and they are outside your door with flaming pitchforks. How do you get people to run for office in this environment?

    1. Oh but Hansen was just in Washington DC talking about things such as economic growth and how he can help. Loser!

  6. The stupid…it burns. But with these two, karr, Odenbach, Shafebauer and a few others… SD is so screwed. The race to the bottom is too close to call.

  7. It appears that Ismay doesn’t comprehend/understand the state’s constitution regarding Public Education. It also appears that bought and paid for Liberty Tree PAC Representative Hunt is simply regurgitating the misinformation her PAC daddy is feeding her.

  8. But. But. He’s a constitutionalist! He surely understands the constitution. Or has at least read it. Right? Right? Liberty tree is also ismay’s only donor that isn’t one of his own PACs. Scott really keeps good company.

  9. I find it utterly hubris that Ismay and Hunt will say we should shut off the federal faucet for aid to South Dakota Public Education yet both were first in line for federal dollars and took multiple forgivable PPP loans on our tax dollars during the “made up” COVID epidemic. The COVID year was one of my best years on my small place and I refused to even deal with the paperwork involved in the PPP loan scam. And don’t get me started with the Government Subsidies that both have taken on their ranches. Over a million dollars in federal subsidies (our tax dollars) on 1 of the ranches. It’s all public information. The level of hypocrisy knows no bounds.

    1. Should note that it isn’t Travis’ ranch. It’s his daddy’s. Daddy pays him to take care of his cows because Travis wasn’t capable of holding down a job. Unless you count foreman at “Ismay Welding” which isn’t an actual entity.

  10. Perhaps a sort of sociology or economics test to take & pass before a person can run for public office. It can be easy or even oral for the illiterate ones. Doesn’t have to be onerous. Just so they can prove they know how government works in the state they purport to be citizens of. If they want to run the government – they should know i.e. a TIF from a taking.

  11. So Ismay thinks that we shouldn’t accept any more Federal dollars for education because the government just prints money and it will hurt everyone in the long run? I pay federal income taxes, I would much rather my money that I pay to the feds come back to K12 Public Education in South Dakota rather than in the form of his PPP payment and government “rancher” subsidies in Travis’ bank account. Send your federal money back first, Travis.

    1. He doesn’t have any money. It’s his daddy’s. Travis just gets to work the ranch and dad pays him. And lets him live on the property. Not sure how no one saw through this guy.
