Gov. Rhoden Mobilizes SDNG to DC at the Request of President Trump
PIERRE, S.D. – Today, Governor Larry Rhoden announced the mobilization of 12 South Dakota National Guardsmen to support ongoing operations in Washington D.C. at the request of President Donald J. Trump.
“South Dakota stands in solidarity with President Trump and his efforts to Make America Safe Again,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “With the National Guard’s help, President Trump has restored law and order to our nation’s capital – and our guardsmen will help keep it that way. We will not sit on the sidelines while crime threatens the safety of our families.”
The 12 public affairs guardsmen are from the 129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment based out of Rapid City. They will serve in a public affairs capacity in the joint information command center.
This mobilization is under the command of the D.C. National Guard and is completely federally funded. The guardsmen will activate on a Title 32 status. The initial deployment is expected to last for 30 days.
For the safety of the guardsmen and their families, the announcement of this mobilization was held until the guardsmen were safely on site.

Any Governor associated with the MAGA movement must be vocally and physically supportive King Trump’s agenda in Washington D.C. This situation unequivocally underscores the fact that such efforts will not produce meaningful crime reduction. We are living in a militarized federal state. For the safety of the guard members and their family you did not disclose that you were deploying our guard members until they were deployed? That has got to be one of the more disengenuous comments you have ever made. The fact is you are either ashamed to have taken this action, or you are ignorant as all get out, and in both scenarios, you don’t want public feedback. You are a weak and feckless leader.
This is a good deployment for our troops. The role they will perform is exactly what their wartime mission is, and the fact that it is federally funded is better than other (border security) deployments that we’ve undertaken in the past.

I agree with you, Tim. I voted for Trump. He is the Executive Branch whose duty it to execute the laws we have. He is Commander-in-Chief, and it is well within his power to maintain law and order. I am proud of SD troops who went to the border to prevent further invasion. I am proud that SD is among the states to send its National Guard, not state guard, to clean up our nation’s capital. I can only hope that the citizens of Washington, their mayor, and leaders will continue the work once President Trump’s 30 days are up. I am sad to read some of the comments you received. Evidently, the SD War College is actually liberal or has been taken over by liberals.

This also serves as yet another political stunt/distraction to take pressure off of the certain release of certain files many are demanding to be released in full.
So the SD National Guard could not be deployed to assist with the destruction from the McCook Lake flooding in July 2024 but they can be deployed to handle public affairs in DC in August ‘25? Sure, I understand that! Because they are a public affairs unit, will they write stories about the soldiers refreshing the landscaping and emptying trash containers in the DC parks? I’m curious.

In SECRET phone calls, meaning without authorization from the President or Sec of Defense, he admittedly told his counterpart in China that if the US was to take action, he would give them advanced warning of said action. So, he would willingly create a situation where he would be responsible for many more casualties and wounded than otherwise would happen all because of his hatred for Trump.
