“Freedom Works Here” Ad Airs during Republican Presidential Debate

PIERRE, S.D. – On Wednesday night, the “Bright Side” ad aired during the first Republican presidential primary debate on Fox News. The debate generated 35.7 million impressions for Governor Kristi Noem’s national “Freedom Works Here” workforce recruitment campaign.

“People love the new ad! I have heard time and time again that ‘Bright Side’ is their favorite, so we aimed it at the Freedom-loving debate viewers,” said Governor Noem. “Americans are taking action to move to South Dakota. We have open jobs that need to be filled, and we are showing the nation why this is the best state in the nation to live, work, and raise a family.”

Last Friday, in the 24 hours after Governor Noem launched the “Bright Side” ad, the “Freedom Works Here” campaign received 386 applications – a new daily high. Governor Noem unveiled the ad last Thursday night on Hannity.

“Freedom Works Here” will advertise in the November issue of Stars & Stripesa publication targeted at 350,000 military personnel who are leaving the service and seeking job opportunities. This is an opportunity for South Dakota to connect with military personnel and veterans.

The “Freedom Works Here” ads have been viewed over 558 million times. Since the beginning of the campaign, 5,674 people have submitted applications. 1,100 individuals are in the final stages of moving to South Dakota.

The most applications have come from California (917), Texas (423), Florida (418), Minnesota (328), and New York (255). 163 South Dakotans have also used the campaign as a tool to get plugged into career opportunities. A map showing where applicants are from can be found here.

These numbers represent those working directly through the “Freedom Works Here” program. Even more people are finding jobs and moving to South Dakota of their own accord after seeing the ads.

  1. I don’t care if not one single person would apply for a job here. Her commercials are the greatest positive advertisement for our state.

    1. That’s exactly the problem, she made them all about her. Ian even retweeted a guy who called it “Noem’s pigtail commercial.”

  2. Let me ask an obvious question here… since when is it appropriate to spend state money to lure more Republicans to our state?

She’s buying Republican Debate ads with taxpayer dollars. Then there is the NASCAR advertising. NASCAR fans skew heavily Republican too.

And, as always, she happens to be promoting herself in all of these spots.

    1. when the insanerest mayors and governors of blue jurisdictions announce they are sanctuaries for illegal immigrants, it’s pretty obvious they are trying to get more democrat voters into their precincts.
Advertising for Republican voters makes a lot of sense. She should target Staten Island. People there want to escape.
I think for the next ad campaign she should style herself like Snake Plissken.

  3. It’s obvious that she has national ambitions. With these ads, she can use state tax dollars – instead of her own campaign money – to advertise to the precise audience she wishes to reach.

    Clever, she is.

  4. I’m usually skeptical about Governor Noem’s various campaigns but really enjoyed Governor’s Noem’s lighthearted and informative commercial during a very contentious debate. Well written and a great visual punchline. There was one awkward disconnect, in that the commercial ran right after several candidates insisted “America is in decline”, (DeSantos),” The worst economy in history” (Ramaswamy), Bidenomics a disaster (several candidates). Governor Noem then popped on and cheerily said the South Dakota economy was “booming” and we had 20,000 job openings.

  5. Ah, LARP’in through her Governorship… Hold on folks, Pheasant huntin’ season is right around the corner. We have recently seen Biker Barbie, but soon she will morph into Ringneck huntin’ Barbie. In the meantime, we now get to see Electrician Barbie.. What a grift.

  6. Noem should focus her efforts on what she really is, an actress. And she already has the costumes, cowgirl, hunter, teenager, plumber, electrician….

    1. You forgot Rodeo queen, and there was that edgy military phase where wearing camo was the “in” thing for her. I am sure there are more that I am missing….

  7. Is it true local economic development groups are being told they will not be given any information gathered by this campaign (pun intended) unless they contribute to and for additional ad buys?
