  1. Gee, a last minute announcement to give a veneer of an excuse to “miss” the date of the SDPB debate.

Hopefully she has enough sense to not lie about how much she raises or where it goes like her role model.

  2. This is what Corey brings to the team? Skip a debate hide behind vets. Trump did this in Iowa in 2016.

  3. It’s a great cause. And a good excuse for Kristi to avoid that SDPB debate. Noem said that “SDPB’s extreme leftward swing precludes the possibility of a fair debate”. (There’s that “extreme” word again.)

She appears to be extremely afraid of being challenged by Smith or SDPB. Of course she could have arranged to attend both the debate and a fundraiser. It’s just easier to run for governor when you don’t have to be questioned by anyone.

As Noem loves to remind us, she can ride a horse and shoot a gun. But apparently she is afraid of a question from SD Public Broadcasting. I guess I always thought that it was the job of a journalist to ask tough questions.

The fundraiser is for a good cause. But we should also acknowledge that it was very clever to use it as a political shield. Nobody will see through it.

    1. It also draws (up to) 600 people away from watching the debate where they might like some of Smith’s ideas. Like repealing the grocery tax for example.

        1. Noem knows that medicaid expansion will easily pass. She is now for the grocery tax repeal too. And I am almost certain that she graduated from grade school.

    2. ” she is afraid of a question”

This is laughable coming from you…the one who will post BS as fact and can’t come up with a single link to a study or to a data source to prove your statement.

  4. SDPB debate … ” Jamie we love you , Ms Noem , why are you evil?” like I need to watch that

    1. As I watch the debate right now, I definitely don’t see anything that as seasoned a politician as her couldn’t handle.

  5. With NPR’s reputation of support for liberal issues, I understand the governor’s not wanting to waste her time on a debate hosted by them. I think she should have countered with a suggestion to hold the debate at a neutral site by a neutral member of the electronic or print press (is there any such critter in this state?). While this event for veterans, featuring SSG Jones who’s a Fox celebrity and who has served our country with honor and bravery, the timing of this event smacks of pandering to the veteran voting community. The same goes for the “Pinning Ceremonies” that Johnson has doing around the state recognizing Viet Nam veterans. If all of this had taken place last year, I wouldn’t be cynical. Two more weeks of all of this ‘stuff’!
