The word this AM is that a few delegates have had Spencer Gosch reach out to them trying to get them to switch their vote in the AG race to Jon Hansen, who has not officially entered the contest. I’m hearing it’s being worded as “if he were to get in…. would you consider…”
The whole concept of Hansen running to be South Dakota’s Chief Law Enforcement officer at this extremely late date is quixotic, especially given his record on law enforcement. As the Doeden camp noted during the Gubernatorial election, Hansen’s record on crime ain’t so great.

The same anti-death penalty Jon Hansen who voted against the prison has people fishing around about him entering the AG Race? The same Jon Hansen who has less prosecutorial experience than ousted Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg did wants to be the chief law enforcement officer for the state? I’d leave it to his colleagues to judge, but I don’t thing I’ve ever heard his legal acumen lauded either.
Why would we make this guy the state’s lawyer and top cop? Hard pass.
We have three well-qualified candidates running right now. They deserve the opportunity to make their case to the convention.

That’s the problem with these positions getting filled at convention. There’s a lot of whackadoodles that have got in as committee men and women and will show up at convention to put their people into spots. Strangely, the last place gubernatorial candidate will have a strong showing of supporters at the convention. I’d bet on him getting the nod. That said, he would be absolutely awful at the job.
After the all the anti Ag drama with Hanson the Radke puppet, I’d vote for anyone over him!! Can he not take a hint…we don’t want him in Pierre…time for him to go home & be a dad.
The District numbered 25 being insaner than most, would actually have its representation improved if Mr. Hansen takes ALL of Mr Pischke’s jobs: Region 1 director, State Committeeman, AND Senator.
I would take Hansen any day over Lance Russell. I don’t really care what Jon thinks about certain policies, any lawyer censured by the supreme court shouldn’t be the states top cop.
Putting his feelers out there to weasel into another job….but it will be “for the people” of course.
I would think him and Radke would be sucking up to Toad Doeden for a job.
Jon Hansen has never tried a civil case. Never tried a criminal case. Never worked with detectives, of which the AG has about 50. Never argued a case in the state supreme court or any federal courts of SD. Never managed a large operation…or any operation for that matter, unless you count getting his kids up for breakfast.
His sole criteria seems to be “Hey, I’m willing!”
He only has to convince his cult base of delegates.
In morons we trust.
Did I miss something? I don’t even recall him conceding the primary.
He’d have a better shot at SOS with one totally insane candidate and one weak candidate. Either way his goofballs would salivate at another opportunity to vote for him to do literally anything.
In defense of Hansen (never said that before), pro life should mean pro all life, not just pro birth.
Hard pass
Wasn’t this Hansen’s backup plan all along?
Haugaard has been recruited by Doeden to run against Jon in the event this happens. Get your popcorn ready.
Haugaard, holding a law degree, but not a real lawyer….running against Jon Hansen, who holds a law degree but ALSO isnt a real lawyer? only in these days of MAGA.
Of course, Spencer Gooshe is such a great advocate and judge of quality candidates.
The last AG he advocated for was impeached and disbarred.
He can also be found within the list of Tom Pischke supporters.
